Not too mention the lost of the people who supposed to come to Australia freely!

Seriously though, australian classes are gonna be pretty empty this semester because there really are a ton of overseas students from asia. They are important to the unis because they pay way more money to be there.

A bit late to reply, but I'm still in China. Got a locked door, a couple of weeks of decent food and a couple of months of lovely food, and it's shaping up to be an interesting few weeks ahead. Entertainingly I have a background in virology, so at least I'll know the mechanisms behind my lungs dissolving.

Honestly though if the water supply stops then bottled water won't save anyone at this population density, because it'd be a brutal brawl for remaining supply.

I always enjoy seeing the standard “I thought this was supposed to be a free country?!?!?” type reply every time a western country does something China doesn’t like.

Pretty sure Aussie universities aren't that far off since they're leaning on foreign tuitions to get by.

How do you have weeks+months of stored up food/water. Like do you have a huge bunker and MRE's? How long have you been preparing for this? I think I can fit maybe 2 weeks of food in my pantry/fridge for my house, maximum.

The Mormons have an actual doctrine they take very seriously about being prepared to feed your family for a while in the apocalypse. I wouldn't trust them with my eternal soul but they've got wholesale canned bacon down

poverty goat posted:You can survive for weeks on $100 worth of dry beans and rice It is this. :-( The 'weeks of decent food' is just fairly normal food, China-style. The 'months of lovely food' is two sacks of rice, two sacks of beans, and a few bricks of noodles. Add some spices and dried flavourful stuff to decrease suicidal tendencies and you're set. It even fits in the kitchen plus one other cupboard. Edit: preparation was two days of shopping a couple of weeks ago.

The only question you have to answer is "am I a bad enough foreigner to save the president?" Uh "Am I a bad enough foreigner to get refused a visa renewal?" Well, unless you get married, wait five years, then apply for permanent residence. Then your specific factors become more important. Supposedly.
