It'll be interesting to see if they can craft a narrative strong enough to discount iowa entirely in favor of biden, or if they realize he's damaged goods and move on to uh, um, bloomberg?

Office Pig posted:Yeah, backing off M4A to hock some non-plan that helps nobody exist your re-election campaign, being more of a hawk than Obama, and trying to play at advocating some pseudo-GND and then coming out with a Yang-esque policy for climate change doesn't even make you "well she's left-wing for America". I’m assuming you’re a time traveler from the future and you’re unaware of which year you went back to, because... have you checked the voting record of like 90% of the Democratic Party in 2020?

Just to be clear, her GND plan is nothing, and her M4A plan is the exact same as Pete's. Her record on the military and foreign policy in general is unusually bad for a Democrat.

It's astounding to me how bad the DNC's collective political instincts are in leaving the progressive lane completely wide open for Bernie and nobody else. Like, all Warren had to do was pay lip service to all the things Bernie is, but lean into "oh also I'm a women and younger!" and she'd probably be winning Iowa right now. Yes I know the DNC are a bunch of neoliberal centrist dipshits who abhor actual leftist policy, but Obama was also a neoliberal centrist and he at least had the instincts to lie through his teeth on the trail, unify everybody with intense energy, and then ride it into the WH where he could instantly backstab us all to preserve the status quo. He left Warren a perfect blueprint and instead of following it she handed it to a bunch of ex-Clinton staffers who shook their heads and said "no you have to appeal to swing voters!"

This is why "rightwing" and "leftwing" and "centrist" are bad political labels. Warren is to the left of most of her colleagues in the Senate. She's to the right of most of her constituents. Depending on the context, you can argue that she's leftwing or rightwing and still be correct. On the other hand, if you argued she was anything other than a lying neoliberal hack that was only concerned with her own personal advancement, you'd be incorrect.
