temple posted:a lot of coders aren't trained traditionally and are self taught. so there's a whole network of people that drink craft beer and hire their friends to consultant agencies or small departments in larger orgs. they are largely able to read code, copy templates, and maintain it. but launching a release quality apps is usually out of their depth. no shock some 5 person team released an app that immediately broke. we're not talking about launching the summer video game blockbuster here. this app needed to collect roughly 2000 sets of data and total them. this is example-todo-app.js level poo poo. this is stuff that the most brain-dead ruby-on-rails fanboy could whip up in an hour and have it function perfectly. if it failed it was either gross incompetence on a loving apocalyptic scale, or deliberate malicious tampering.

No QA process- the app was sending unscrubbed backend errors with sql in them back to the user.
