New "leak" from a clickbait site alleges the following details for future Trek series: -The return of Sisko for S2 of Picard, in a story that focuses on the Q Continuum and includes Janeway and Guinan. If Avery Brooks doesn't return as Sisko, they'll "get someone else to play him" (like Cirroc Lofton) -S4 of Discovery will be about the Dominion -Section 31 will be about the Gorn and Orions -They are making a CW-style young adult drama called "Starfleet Academy." https://boundingintocomics.com/2020...jsiP3MFPwV-fH24

I can't imagine Brooks ever coming back to the role - he doesn't care about Trek one bit and he's acting in DC theater right now.

i also would be very surprised if avery brooks deigned to make an appearance, but i'd be curious to see what insane inflection he'd add to sisko's speech pattern for no reason after all these years

Exploring the Dominion 800 years on would be an interesting idea, and I doubt the cost overhead would be that great - you could doubtless do Founder SFX for peanuts now.

Mostly the "Discovery/Picard to be cancelled" and "Alex Kurtzman to be fired by CBS" ones are perpetually bullshit. The most recent garbage story is "Seth McFarland is trying to buy the entire Star Trek franchise from CBS to save it from Alex Kurtzman", which is hilariously bonkers bullshit. Also someone on 4chan apparently leaked a bunch of big plot points for Picard using bits from the already screened to critics but not yet released to the public first three episodes to bolster their credibility. Lot of freaking out over a certain new character being trans and that a certain TNG character is revealed to be dead in the later episodes. People losing their minds over a whole lot of nothing.

nine-gear crow posted:The most recent garbage story is "Seth McFarland is trying to buy the entire Star Trek franchise from CBS to save it from Alex Kurtzman", which is hilariously bonkers bullshit. He's got a personal fortune of 200 million and just signed a deal for another 200 million to make some tv shows for NBC's upcoming streaming service. Even if he had just...400 million in Cold Hard Cash lying around, I doubt CBS would sell for that little. I don't think CBS would try to get Star Wars money, but I don't see them letting go of Trek for less than 2.5 billion, honestly. And that's if they'd sell at all, lots of studios won't sell IPs that they see zero value in because nobody wants to be the guy that sold, I dunno, Babylon 5, walked away from the deal with half a billion bucks and then they make a movie or whatever and it does a billion at the BO. Edit: and despite what the fashy dipshits are saying, Star Trek IS making money, because I know enough people in this business and they all tell me that nobody would ever keep an unsuccessful show going to dab on the toxic white males or whatever.

If anything, I'll bet that they tie in the origin of the Daht Vahj (do we have a proper spelling for that yet?) and/or the origin of the Borg in with the ancient alien race that created Ruk the android in "What Are Little Girls Made Of?" from TOS: https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/What_Are_Little_Girls_Made_Of%3F_(episode) Apparently Robert Bloch, the writer of that episode, also wrote Cthulu mythos stories, and reading a recap of Picard ep 2 reminds me that EW.com posted:According to Laris, the Zhat Vash’s sole purpose is to keep “a secret so profound and terrible, just learning it would break a person’s mind.” I'd lay even odds that they somehow combine that TOS reference with the Iconians, too, or perhaps further develop the precursor race from "The Chase."

I am really interested to see what they do with Season 2 of Picard, assuming that the current storyline is wrapped up this season. edit: Until the Whoopi Season 2 invitation I half suspected it might only be a single season thing, and the talk of a season 2 renewal was to cover the fact Picard would die at the end. That invitation and her reaction seemed too authentic to be part of a misdirection though.
