I'm surprised about the Vivec answers because it's so empty on the outside of the cantons. Are there any good mods that help this without being ridiculous? Personally I have always loved Caldera. Cool name, cool buildings, a castle even if it's a bit underwhelming. Also Ghorak Manor and Creeper. Finding a near complete set of steel armor in one of the watch towers was a definite gently caress yes moment when I was a young n'wah. Then you go north and find her: Pemenie the trader carrying the Boots of Blinding Speed. I used them for a while to get from place to place using only the small square mini map in the corner, running blindly. Khuul gets honorable mention as coolest town in Vvardenfell.

You know that lifestyle where instead of putting down roots anywhere, you sleep in hotels, work in conference rooms, and spend your off time waiting in airport terminals for your next flight? International airports all have a sort of similar feel to them as purpose designed spaces all made for the same purpose. When I try to think of what city I like, I remember the inside of the Mages Guild. Every Mages Guild. They're all distinct, but by treating them the same way as each other, they all hang together in my mind as a single shared liminal space. (I like a lot of the cities and towns and am terrible at picking favorites.)

I can't remember the name of the mod off the top of my head, but there's a mod that puts all of the canton interiors in one cell. I really like how much more convenient it makes navigation in the interiors. Unfortunately, it also conflicts with a nice mod that adds clutter and such to the exteriors. I think because it moves doors.

Pelagiad's great because the lack of fine dining and travel accommodations keep out the tourists and shoobies, you can just head down across Lake Amaya if you want to score some drugs and on the weekend you can hoe it up with Ahnassi and Nels down at the Halfway Tavern.

I wonder whether telvanni mushroom houses smell good or awful
|

they smell like death, stale farts and heaping quantities of Bug Musk, much like the wizards who grew them

So do the telvanni's slaves all know how to cast levitate or do the magelords just yeet their dirty underwear and robes down the tube

Since they're literally built out of fungus, I can't imagine living in there would be good for the lungs. Fortunately, you can probably cure asthma just by drinking a potion of Cure Disease. Bug musk, supposedly, smells good since it gives you a charisma bonus.

Caldera. I use a shopkeep house mod to give me a home just before the castle. With plenty of variety of amenities and as I always roll wizards- the mages guild being the fastest way in or out makes it a great spot. That is until I settle Raven Rock and start aimlessly dicking around Solstheim.

Pelagiad is the best because that's where the brothel from my favourite mod, For Love or Money, is located, and so I spend a good amount of time there tugging it raw to grammatically questionable erotic shenanigans. Namaste.

I can't recall the name of it but there's a mod that turns the club in Suran into a brothel and you get a magical STD every time you sleep with a prostitute. A must have mod for Suran.

I like balmora, its got really good bones and it gives a good impression of being a bigger city than it is. Like it could be scaled up to something the size of the imperial city in oblivion and it would work and I could still probably find my way around based on sensible zoning. I get that for Old Ebonheart as well. Just really good city design. Some day I'll learn to mod and make myself a cool little house with a place to chill on the roof right by the silt strider.
