That's uhh, a hell of a poster, even for metal stuff.

Also lol I legitimately cannot tell who the headlining band is. Is it Ingested? That's my best guess.

my dude drop table phiz has tuned me in to some good stuff lately:

"neuro siege" by mental cavity from australia - this slams. like a great mix between dbeat hardcore, sludge metal, with a bit of black metal thrown in to the mix. tons of blasting and some catchy groove.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=At1uYRunvS0
"agenda of fear" by wasted struggle from hungary extremely angry powerviolence/grind with heavy dbeat influences and just absurdly heavy breakdowns that remind me of chunky unsane riffs played by converge fans. kind of reminds me a bit of rotten sound with more of a hardcore lean

Lamb of God Burn the Priest's covers album was decent enough, but yeah Resolution and VII weren't enough "bang for your buck" that I used to loving love about them Richmond (motherfucking), Virginia lads.

Hopefully we also get something from Architects at the end of the year. Holy Hell was fantastic (even if, in hindsight, All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us and Lost Forever // Lost Together are gonna be very hard to top), so I can't wait to see in which direction do they go, even if Tom is still sorely missed both in presence and song-writing influence.

I'd agree. I really dug them back in the Messengers/Constellations days, but just sorta got tired of them from there. They're good at what they do, but everything just sounds a bit samesie. But I'll always give their new songs/albums a listen when they come out, even if they don't get much play beyond the first listen or two.

Funny - this is exactly what I was ready to post in response to seeing a new ABR song posted. I can get into some tracks on Leveler, but then everything runs together to the point I can't even tell different *albums* apart. (The lone exception to this is "Ghosts" - I love that track.)

I originally thought that the closest thing to Metalcore AC/DC would be Every Time I Die or Converge.

Only difference is that I can actually stomach listening to more than one song of either Every Time I Die or Converge in a row.

AC/DC has two great albums and a lot of mediocrity. Converge and ETID are consistently great.

Oh I completely agree with both your post and Wamsutta's. It's just... what was it? Like 2009? I think I remember a webcomic guy (probably the Questionable Content guy since he's the one most likely to talk about music) make a tumblr post comparing one of the two bands with AC/DC.

And yeah, just like with the Eagles, I can probably tolerate 1 or 2 AC/DC songs before I plead with someone to knock it off. Contrast & compare my last drive from Mexico City back to Monterrey last year, where I drove through half the country while blasting Hot drat!, Ex-Lives, Low Teens, Axe to Fall, You Fail Me, The Blackest Beautiful, If I'm the Devil..., The Woods, One Beat and The New Romance.

It's not metalcore but my usual "5 hour drive to visit the in-laws" playlist is "4 Opeth albums in a row"

Your ears are busted, but also maybe try a different album? Jane Doe has pretty unique production and Jake is in full squawk mode. Their later releases may be more appealing to you.

Kurt Ballou has crafted a very specific sound for the band and they've more or less managed to remain very consistent. Said sound can make you feel very cagey and provoke you to want to shut it off, though, especially if you're of the "set it and forget it" school of volume. I'll be honest, like I appreciate them, but not every record of theirs is a banger in my book. Usually it's WFCC, You Fail Me, Axe to Fall and AWLWLB. Dusk in Us did nothing for me, No Heroes felt like a weaker follow-up to You Fail Me, and people who say Jane Doe is the best guitar-rock-driven record of 2001 need to remember that same year both Fugazi put out their last record and it's also the same year Envy released All the Footprints.... Nothing they did previous to When Forever... has stayed with me at the same level.
