I think I'm going RLB > Thornberry > Starmer > Nandy

Starmer's poo poo but like, he didn't actually lead owen smith's campaign? Frankly I'd rather the last two just weren't in it at all and struggle to choose between eating runny poo poo or rock hard poo poo, but CLP is tonight so I guess I have to pick.

If you have a preference for one over the other, express it, even if you'd prefer neither of them get in at all. Not voting doesn't allow you to express that if it's a choice between those two, you'd prefer Starmer over Nandy, voting does.

OwlFancier

I mean I genuinely don't feel like I have enough information to pick the least bad of the two comprehensively, they're both poo poo in slightly different ways and have different red flags. And with all the candidates they're all saying basically the same goddamn poo poo anyway so I'm really forced to decide on who I trust, based on past evidence.

If I get a chance to speak I'm gonna point that out to people, along with the importance of keeping or expanding into an even more radical policy platform cos anything less and we're just hosed up here.

RLB seems to get that, we don't have a choice on policy, we've got to convince people it can happen, and frankly I'm also not convinced it's gonna be the efforts of the labour party that're gonna win or lose the next election, but rather how badly the tories gently caress up and own it.

Although, gently caress starmer's go that much support from the ghoul brigade I don't even know if he's the best choice for third? He might seem less poo poo now but he's gonna get absolutely brain controlled by the worst the party has in it if he wins. Would we be better off with nandy going off on her own weird tangent anyway?

Is there a discernable difference beween blue labour and whatever horror is produced by the gestalt efforts of the party right rallying behind starmer I wonder? Because I think that they'd go full on culture war controls on immigration permanent prison for anyone who looks a bit terroristy if they got the chance.

Blue Labour want to sell economic socialism with moral traditionalism, Starmer wants to sell Blairite Liberalism with probably some appeals to social progressivism but tempered by appointing some egomaniac dickhead who'll ban grapefruit spoons to the Home Office.

Starmer will look more sad when he does an illegal war, but that's just his resting face.

I struggle to believe that starmer has the individual fortitude to not just go full moralism once the right peg that that's popular and won't hurt their bottom line.

Seems that it's more racism/isolationism and whatever ism an obsession with national autarky is called (autism is already taken and I have no desire to insult the neurodivergent by equivalence) that got released by Brexit outside of TERF Hour.

I think it's more popular than lovely technocracy if you're looking for an ideology that allows dickheads to be in charge of things. And it also dovetails very nicely with racism and isolationism.

Lock up all the criminals throw away the keys, keep the foreigners out, ban genders and perverts, bring back british values like hanging and hundredweights. Of course this is a stupid strategy for a lot of reasons but I think it's certainly a likely future for the authoritarians to take, because it can either be part of strasserism or regular old fascism depending on your economic preferences.

Trouble is I'm genuinely not sure if nandy or starmer is more likely to go that route. Or at least, whether or not that route is more likely to get into power and more likely to become part of the labour party for a long time. If starmer gets in and guts the democratic process in labour, how do we get that lot out again?

It doesn't matter what ideology the right uses, so long as they leverage their astounding ability to homogenise that ideology among its base.

Compare that to the left which values diversity and free thought and ultimately finds itself herding cats as a result.

Raise hell at conference and hope for an electoral disaster is about the best route. :sigh:

Or use the tangible benefits of economic leftism to organize parallel structures outside of the state. They're not getting a lot of that stuff back in the box again and at least with auth left poo poo your parallel structure might be better fed than under regular old fascism.

Both RLB and Nandy believe in something, even if you disagree with what that represents (as I do in the latter's case). Starmer is popular amongst ghouls because he's controllable, doesn't much believe in anything, and will dance to the tune of the (mostly Tory) media, which in the long run would probably be more dangerous than having an out and out Blue Labour type in charge for a bit. We'd also never in a million years win with a Blairite in charge, see Ed Miliband.

On balance Nandy gets a begrudging preference over Starmer for me, but RLB is way ahead of either.

In the UK at least it's the same frequency bands as 4G (and maybe some of the other disused analog TV bands) and at lower power levels, so no.

The US might be using the same frequencies as their weather control machines but who knows

That's seriously overhyped from the fact that there is a very slight overlap between one of the frequency bands allocated to 5G and millimeter-wave radars which are used for rainfall and storm-cloud tracking.

It's a complete non-issue because 5G is fractions of a percent of the power used by those radars and that particular frequency band would be unusable anywhere where it might conceivably cause an issue because it will be completely swamped by the radars themselves. The one semi-legit issue is with low-power radars used on boats and planes and phones attempting to handshake on that band in very close proximity to them may cause some glitching, but there's plenty of solutions to that issue.

TBH I've always been suspicious about the fact that the actual legitimate technical objections to 5G (starting with "we don't actually need it" and "it mostly doesn't work") are drowned out by such easily-refuted crank arguments, and it feeds into my Grand Unified Conspiracy Theory that most conspiracy theories are, in fact, white noise designed to stop people thinking too much about actual issues with the world.
