Man it's a good thing I don't have $2500 burning a hole in my pocket right now. If I was going to get a classic Saab it'd probably be a 900 turbo but this makes a good argument to not do that.

NiMH batteries can last a long time, there are RAV4 EVs of the same vintage with 150,000+ miles on their original packs (seriously, Toyota needs to make pure electric cars again).

I unapologetically love the Prowler and thought that was the best looking one I'd seen... until I got past the first image and got real sad. Nearly 6 figures invested into a $40k (when new) "Hot Rod" and it's still just got an ok V6 mated to a lazy automatic transmission that were both plucked clean out of the loving Concorde

Of course, that's by 20 years ago standards. Would a Pentastar fit in there? That'd be pretty fun, and probably an easier swap than a V8.

# ? Feb 11, 2020 04:26 |

I actually think swapping in an LS and the transaxle out of a Corvette would probably be easier than swapping in a Pentastar. Because the stock transmission isn't lasting more than about 5 minutes behind a Pentastar.

I sort of assume any swap in a Prowler ditches the existing trans for a stick like it should have had from the start

IIRC, SRT threw a souped up 4.7L Powertech in one for the Howler, so we know for a fact that a decent sized V8 fits in one without chopping up the front or the firewall God drat it, I was going to make a joke about putting a Coyote in it because coyotes prowl, but that's actually what the owner should have done instead airbrushing panthers all over it! E: The Howler had a 5MT on that V8, even Chrysler knew that Chrysler poo poo the bed with the Prowler

yeah the Howler was basically what the Prowler ought to have been

At least GM put a V8 in the SSR, even if it was the weeny 5.3L. To GM's credit, they realized that particular mistake and bumped it up to the 6.0 LS2 later, and the SSR was available with a T-56. Just couldn't get past the almost-but-not-quite styling on the SSR. No idea why the slab-sided the ROUND fenders like that. Could be neat to reskin an SSR with an actual Advanced Design pickup body.
