An effect. Just slapped some Nurgles Rot technical on it, when it’s totally dry it will deflate a little but it adds a nice barfy touch to the cannon.

This is what I get for cross posting. I had already answered the same question and when I read yours I thought either the forums had reverted or I was having a stroke.

More Gloomhaven minis! *Again, Spoilers*

These are Quartermaster and Brute! Quartermaster was tough, he has a lot of small details and I don't think the mini captures those details very well. The Brute went pretty smoothly, I primed him in white so you can still see some of it poking through (but a lot of that is snow I promise!!). Very happy with the bases.

I though these photos came out well I figured I'd take more of the other minis I made, since I really didn't like the other photos I did:

Color scheme test for my Stormcast warband.

I've never liked Stormcast, but replacing their dopey helmets and not painting them in a madly gaudy color scheme like GW likes doing goes a long way.

I just did my first Stormcast and I'm also not too fond of the default scheme so I tried doing a warmer bronze one. I've come around on their helmets though, they're sorta endearing :v:

I have also painted a large lad for Malifaux this weekend. Still trying to figure out the whole "taking pictures of miniatures" thing, but figured I should occasionally post what I'm painting instead of just talking about painting.

He still needs varnished and I'm going to do some kind of water (well, ooze) effect in the base, but I'm pretty happy how he turned out. He sat on my desk unpainted for months, actually painting him and the base took an evening once I actually started.

This is a cool guy, and paintjob. I don't know what your plan is, but I'd go for some contrasting ooze on the base. Everything is a bit green right now.
What model is that? I can't seem to find it.

Thanks! Its a Desolation Engine (outcasts faction, Amalgam Keyword). I'm leaning towards changing the colour of the ooze from green myself, the rest of the guys I've done on similar bases have mostly green tiles, so I wanted to keep that to tie them together (also because frankly gently caress doing a pattern on that many tiles) but those models have more contrast with their bases. I'm thinking maybe orange or purple. Feel like making it blood would be a bit cliche.

After a mammoth task of dissembling, stripping, rebuilding and finally convincing myself not everything has to be neat I have something I’m proud enough of to share with goons!

Crawler/counts as chimera for my genestealer cult. Very happy with how it’s come out, using a leman Russ that had been sitting in a cardboard box in my parents house for 20 years or so and various bits from the box. Second time using salt weathering and I think it’s come out really well.

I've got two kinda-old bottles of Liquitex varnish, one gloss and one matte. But both go on glossy by now, basically 100% indistinguishable from each other. The bottle of matte, though, is like 2/3rds solid: is that the matte medium part of the mixture or something? Do I need a new bottle of matte or is there some way to revive this stuff?

so i subscribe to warpfire minis warpcrate which is a loot crate with ~$50 worth of random painted, primed, unpainted or NoS war hams and a while ago they sent me an 8 unit sprue of genestealers. there are no instructions and tbh i dont really play warhammer, but i have really been enjoying painting and i wanted to try painting these genestealers next. i took a picture of the sprues (i have 2 of each sprue) and circled some parts i don't know what they are. I think one of the pieces is like armor plates or something, but i dont know where they go. can anyone give any insight as to what these things are?

no doves fly here lol
so the armor plates go on the back carapace, sort of over the shoulders--its easy when youve got the pieces next to each other to see where it fits. the butthole piles are separate bits (infestation nodes iirc?) that are to be based and painted separate from the geners. the lil' wormy guy with the big head is a ripper, of ripper swarm fame, also not part of a genestealer but instead a separate unit

However, I'm missing something in the paint scheme. They look a bit... boring? The idea was to have the red and green be complementary colours with the white and black as contrasts, but they don't really pop. Any ideas of how to improve them?

I think there is just a bit too much red. I had the same problem with my dudes. They are bit hard with that much armor. also I think it is problem only with Basha, others have other colors to compliment.
Here is how I did mine for comparison.

Yeah, basically this. Late last year I got the genestealer kill team in a box, and the instructions didnt cover those. I used the nodes and rippers to test out color scheme before moving to the full genestealers.

Oh no!😱

I had a long weekend, so I got a bunch of painting done. Plus I got a cheap collapsible light box to take photos (going to photograph my miniatures before packing some of them away as I'm reaching the point where I have more painted stuff than I have free space), and I'm trying it out, so have a photo of 2 guys I painted this past weekend. Malifaux Baby Cade and Candy (1st ed miniatures). Not gonna lie, tried like 5 times to paint a red and white swirl on her lollipop but my freehand skills are in no way up to that, so I went gently caress it and painted it green instead.

That now completes my Pandora Crew (or at least the minis I have for her, they were part of a big mixed ebay lot. No poltergeist, which doesnt seem to come up on ebay on its own particularly often, but I'm keeping an eye out). The sorrows (ghost dudes) were painted a while ago and I'm not as happy with them now as I was at the time, but it is what it is. Couldnt get them properly in focus anyway, turns out taking decent photos of miniatures is tricky, who knew?

Some more Humblewood miniatures - I want to fix the glow from the lantern as it doesn’t look right, and I’m not satisfied with the crystal bird thing on the owl’s arm, but overall I’m pretty pleased.
