Probably shouldn't go writing people off entirely for a bit of election fatigue tbh, if we ever want a united socialist movement again. One of these people was personally responsible for a very cool thing in the news last year that we were all discussing ITT (not gonna dox them, obv). Just highlighting that a lot of good people just can't take this poo poo any more, and when there's no hope left then yeah, New Labour looks slightly better than more of this loving poo poo.

Buying into that thinking absolutely becomes a self fulfilling prophecy, since we can't get out of the Tory/slightly-less-Tory binary without a long and bloody fight, I just understand why people might not have any fight left, which is exactly why Corbynists might be voting themselves out of a future say. Sucks, but the best we can do is try to stay strong for our comrades and fight twice as hard for those that don't have it in them any more.

Important question for feedmegin/other D&D nerds - which character class will let me have shotted darts, snooker ball in a sock, and Millwall brick as my ranged, standard and melee weapons?

OwlFancier

Rogue, as those would all be simple weapons I think, and you'll still do a lot of damage with them because of sneak attack.

I don't exactly know how you can half-kill a dragon with a brick in a sock but there's nothing in the rules says you can't.

Monk as well, dependent on sub-type.

If ever I played I think I would go for a monk who dresses like, and pretends to be, a wizard.

Cos equipment wise the only different is in clothing style, and I want to lure people into thinking I'm casting a big spell and then roundhouse kick them when they try to interrupt lol.

I feel like those robes would get in the way of a decent swing with the sock, but that's a lot of surface area to put razor blades along...

The best 5e monk weapon is a spear, although they use lots of unarmed attacks to do extra damage. So, a sawn-down street sign and repeated headbutts?

I'm more familiar with 3.5 via neverwinter nights so monks literally punched everything to death or used like, kama, and that's it. I'm glad they made them more versatile because they were super busted in that edition I think but also kinda boring cos they needed basically no equipment, just punching things.

Yeah, Monks can now just lock down a lot of the bigger threats in a game.

This fucker: has broken so many encounters by just stunlocking the main villain over and over again.

Anyway anyone who plays or has played dnd and enjoyed it should read the manga dungeon meshi which is very much based on it. The theme is that nobody can beat the dungeon because they run out of supplies so the main cast just eat the monsters they kill on the way down

Mhm, Sorcerers are more fun wizards. They don't have as much utility but they are a hell of a lot of fun to play with.

I wish there were more classes like the Warlock though. There is so much opportunity for a DM and a player to really flesh out the thing that is granting powers and customising themselves.

My other most recent character was this bastard:

who got power based on the fact that his sword was the first one ever forged anywhere.

Every time I describe it to a friend, it sounds amazing.

Willem Dafoe as a poo poo talking farting pirate with the best long form insults known to man

Melted murderous malicious seagulls in a cess pool

Mermaid vaginas

Who's semen is this?

And an actual conversation:

Ephraim Winslow : What.
Thomas Wake : What.
Ephraim Winslow : What.
Thomas Wake : What.
Ephraim Winslow : What.
Thomas Wake : What.
Ephraim Winslow : What.

But no, I did not enjoy it at all. I wanted it to stop many times and was bored, morbidly horrified and amused at the same time throughout. I couldn't recommend it and kinda want my hours back, but it was better than Bad Boys. So that's a win I guess?

Does that help?

It's not just one defeat though, is it? It's quite literally over a decade of loss in some ways. The feeling of powerlessness, of feeling like "well what can you do but acclimitise yourself to the world" is a strong one. It becomes less so the longer things get worse, but it is still a strong one.
