Bob Odenkirk is a great actor, but he somehow manages to always be Bob Odenkirk. I thought he disappeared into his Fargo season 1 character pretty well. But I still occasionally looked at him and thought, “Bob Odenkirk”.

Breaking Bad is probably the one show that benefited from the writer’s strike

Oh, I got used to it pretty quickly in Breaking Bad. It was just that and the combination of historical garb that took me a few minutes. He really is a solid actor and I loved Saul Goodman -- although I haven't watched Better Call Saul. Krispy Wafer posted:Bob Odenkirk is a great actor, but he somehow manages to always be Bob Odenkirk. I'll second this. It was a little easier there because he was wearing a bit more make-up than usual.

I'm not sure if I'd call Better Call Saul a better show overall, but it's a better acting showcase for Odenkirk for sure. He gets to really flesh out the character and play it as a real three dimensional person, and he's great at it.

The relationships between various characters are more interesting to me, and it really feels like the characters drive the plot through their motivations and interactions with each other instead of just one chain of events leading to Walt digging himself deeper and deeper.

S2 had had a big rating dip and the CW were thinking of canning the show with S3, but then the strike hit before the ratings reached the axing point. Afterwards circumstances led to an early pickup for S4, and here we are 11 years later with it still on the air.

Watchin’ a dumb shonen anime that takes place in a magical fantasy world. The two main characters were raised in a church’s orphanage. The church and the priest and the nun who run it all look kind of catholic, but there is no mention of any god, let alone Jesus, in this generic fantasy world. What religion do these people practice? They never tell us, but I have to know! It was also fun in the anime Hunter x Hunter, which also takes place in a fantasy world with completely different countries and land masses and ethnic groups, when a character starts waxing philosophical about Judas selling out Jesus for 30 pieces of silver and how that ties to destiny and free will. Then the cops are around the next corner ready to clothesline you.

I love the idea of a gun based martial art that can be hosed up by someone moving the furniture. My opinion of that movie has gone back and forth a few times but lately I love it in a b-movie kind of way.

The whole de-aging seemed really uncanny valley to me, but some people said they didn't even notice it so That scene also felt totally unnecessary to me. Just so heavy handed, didn't seem natural. Why even take the daughter with you? It just felt forced instead of a natural reveal, for such a long movie those moments felt cliched and rushed. I dunno I just didn't like it much overall. Goodfellas was already perfect. Why you gotta go and do Casino and Irishman and stuff and basically just repeat yourself but worse. The same voiceover stuff, its just getting old.
