One thing I appreciate about this manga, is that even though the story is unfolding at a very slow pace, and this current story arc has already taken years, ONE doesn’t ever seem to forget about any loose ends. I had completely forgotten about the mercenaries that Amai Mask killed, and I never would have thought they would get a call-back.

King is basically an ordinary civilian with a "don't gently caress with me" aura that affects everybody who knows about him, which makes his efforts to comfort that kid all the more poignant. That being said, Orochi's remains are probably not intelligent enough to acknowledge his reputation, so things might get a bit tense for him and the kid.

King becoming self aware of the plot armor/luck he has would not only ruin the joke it would arguably even cancel out the power itself. Right now basically every action King takes is informed by him knowing he is an abject weakling who wants to run away screaming but keeps accidentally appearing like a world class badass and bluffing/lucking his way into major victories. If he even for a second believed he was being protected by some divine providence it would make him act differently, and acting differently would cancel this whole effect out. Like the "King Engine" itself relies on him being so over-the-top terrified that his heart is beating loud enough for everyone to hear from far away.

Usually, when the coward or the character lacking in confidence gains powers they seesaw all the way to the other end of the spectrum, to arrogance and hubris. But King, being the strongest and the best, would remain modest and altruistic, helping others with his immense power with no an ounce of ego or bombast. Like a better adjusted Saitama, without all the ennui because for him it isn't about the thrill of fighting, it's just about helping the people who need help. No big deal.

I'm a little pissed that it misses the themes of Saitama so badly, but I can kinda give it a break since it has to make concessions as a game. Genos will get really mad if you steal his lines when talking to Saitama.

If King ever finds out about his super luck, it's probably going to be towards the end of the manga, when everything is building up to a dramatic finale or, more likely, one last anticlimactic punchline.

I'm pretty sure he's aware of it, he just is also genre savvy enough to know that if he loses the edge of his fear, it's all over. That's why he avoids confrontation rather than running into it.
