They do monetise it.
Pages with a lot of shares get preferential treatment in ~the algorithm~. Pages with a lot of likes obviously have a wide audience. Grifters set up pages that start posting like/sharebait such as these dog pics or 'share for kids with cancer', or 'like and share to win a luxury yacht' type stuff. When it gets to a marketable level, they sell the page to whoever wants a highly ranked outlet with a large embedded audience. The page gets renamed and the new owners start posting their own content.

I think it's supposed to be a "Gotcha, socialists! You're actually going to be making less money than you do now, once the government STEALS most of it from you!!" thing. It's just the knee-jerk boomer reaction to anyone suggesting a mild application of socialized policy. Of course this person hasn't read Sanders' actual plan, Socialism means everyone's poor forever!

Although it is funny that the supposed nightmare scenario of "I'm paid slightly less than I am now, but at least if I go to the emergency room I'm not stuck in medical debt for the rest of my life" is still something a lot of people making minimum wage would be totally fine with.

Yeah, but have you considered that you get all that if you join the military? You get the GI bill (which has limitations) and you have health coverage (through the VA, which is a crapshow). We don't need socialism in this country because everyone can contribute to Imperialism!

HELL SERPENT
Lipstick Apathy

quote:

Let's be honest, our world today is mired by less opportunities, less resources and less of everything. Not to sound too imposing but why continue creating life if we are limited by our own resources? Let me get straight to the point, honest and forward, why continue to create babies if they would be crippled upon its birth as there are no resources to support it? Why create another mouth to feed if we as human beings have less to offer it? Why? Why deprive an innocent soul if we could not support its life all through out?

Filipinos love of its culture was lost in translation. That we as citizens of this vulnerable group of islands in the West Philippine Sea failed to comprehend our current situation. That we continued to suck the corrupt and fallible fantasies of the past. That we continue to wander with our current situation and blame it into the past. That we have been made less accountable to the minor problems that we have, pollution, traffic, etc. In the environment, we continue to use single-use plastics but we continually call the implementation of Earth Day? In polluting our only planet, we continually use our SUVs for short market trips and call on other people to buy hybrids instead? Have we forgot the whole carbon footprint of creating just one SUV or even a Hybrid? The cost and resources that were wasted on a single piece of 'environmentally-friendly car?' Are we all not hypocrites, if not stupid? We continually do this things, as if we don't have any functioning brains to comprehend it all. Why is this so? Is it our fault? I think yes. I am saying, confidently that our failure to act as a caring society for the environment fails on the second one single individual fails to comprehend such small details for the environment. After all, we only have a one single breathing planet. Waste this planet and there's no turning back. We all die.

Why do we create more people? Why do put so much pressure and 'premium' to our citizens to create more and get married? Why can't we all be single for our entire lives? Do hate being lonely and is so desperate of having a fubu? Are we that pathetic as human beings? Are we not independent beings?

Some people would argue that having no family or not marrying anyone is blasphemous. Look at our media see for yourself. Almost all of our shows and movies of that series talks about finding that special someone, dating, a little bit of jealousy and drama and saccharine sappiness and that formulaic kiss and happy ending, the end. But may I remind the faithful church of romance, the world does not revolve around those cliches and submissiveness. It is as if they wants us to live in his colorful world of Disney, take a crayon or pastel and color our dark, gloomy world. Reality is not really for the faint-hearted. Life is full of crappy desires, and mundane ambitions. What I find lacking is the chance to fully expose the desires of the human spirit, not just to procreate or have a baby but its blatant failure to show what Maynila and toxic streets are made of. That having no happy ending is also the greatest finale of some stories. Believe me, the world will not end if we did not have any happy ending or kissing scenes. The complexities of human emotion can never be fully expressed with a simpleton, believe me humans are humans and endings with no 'happy' on it maybe the finale everyone is wishing for.

Marriage in itself is a cage. With a married life, an individual may no longer wish to accelerate more of his own ideals to the world as that individual is already tied, chained to another purpose. Compare that to the brain drain phenomena Philippines is experiencing right now and I can assure you that intelligence here in our country is being watered down by our false ideals of success. That success is measured by how fast we can be married, how many kids can we make and how long can we consummate that marriage. Most Filipinos think that this is an achievement. I simply believe that this is wrong. If we really want to progress as a nation, as a country of progression, inventions and achievements, we must not slow down the machinery of intelligence and ideas. Creating babies is never the answer for country continually begging for foreign aid whenever there is a disaster. It is not also an answer to creating more mouths to feed as our precious islands are continually bombarded by typhoons, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, monsoons, drought, and even fire. Forgive me but I just don't like the idea of creating more innocent souls around us and then blaming everyone just because they can not feed them properly.

Natalism is a good convenient way to promote environmental degradation. One way or another, a single human birth could cost the environment tenfold of what it can give back to the environment. Why so? I experienced it myself, baby diapers being eaten by stray dogs. Don't you love it when irresponsible parents throw their babies' waste anywhere? It just so happens that those things are not biodegradable nor digestible. If we could just have a mindful, meaningful parenthood I would not call any Antinatalism action but if this society is hellbent on moving backwards, might as well promote condoms and vasectomy. We as a society have no moral obligation or whatsoever to bring innocent lives to this world if could not give them a life fit for a king? Why waste that child's aspirations if we could not bring her/him closer to her/his dreams? IT IS A loving WASTE. It is really a terrible irony if we created a baby just so someone can care for their old parents when they are old. I am not totally against this idea but, when a parent fully leeches on her/his child, THAT IS loving CORRUPT AND DESPICABLE.

One day I hope to see a Philippines where no child is ever sick, hungry or even questioning his whole existence. DON'T GET ME wrong, I don't hate children! What I hate is those irresponsible dicks waving spitting their sperm into every hole they can see and planting their seed into it. If we can just closely monitor and stop for the next year or so our baby making machines, then that would somehow correct our current trajectory of 100 MILLION FILIPINOS in the islands of only about 300,000 sq km. Please also consider the JOBS AND THE RESOURCES, and the natural disasters THAT we currently have and the unemployment we have. This may have no sense at all for some, but remember, Thailand has a rough count of 70 million Thais and an area of 513,120 km2. Look at the Philippines, are we killing each other for these resources? Are Filipinos leaving this God-Forsaken lands for a better life? Need I say more?

I wanna challenge this. I don't care if it deeply rooted to any tradition of any sorts, if our generation starts to acknowledge and desire for a genuine new path for this crooked mentality to be broken, then it would. In the next fifty years, we will be the older generation, we will be the elders handing down our crooked mentalities. The 'balls' of this game or whatever it is rests in our hands, it is up to us push forth a new path!

I responded with

If we understand that poverty and inequality is a function of allocation and distribution, and not (insufficient) production, then the antinatalism argument falls apart because withholding the introduction of one more human life into this world does not change the underlying politico-economic systems that create and enforce scarcity

Simply put, if we all stopped having children tomorrow, it still wouldn't necessarily mean an end to, or even partial relief of, resource scarcity, because our society is already preprogrammed to be unequal and to have a certain hierarchy of haves and have-nots

quote:

I did not specifically said that I hate reproduction. Simply put it that we Filipinos put premium or sort of a hero's welcome to Filipinos getting married or having kids. I really wish that this kinda of lifestyle could be sustained in our current resourceless society, look at Australia, and New Zealand or even Chile or Argentina or even the Scandinavian countries. Sure they are having problems with their growth rate BUT they are not HAVING A CUTTHROAT competition for JOBS or RESOURCES or anything. As compared to USA of course, our cities are overwhelmingly overpopulated. A small midwest town in the USA would only have a population of roughly 5000 to 20000 (Kansas and Michigan) and here in the Philippines, 4th to 5th class municipalities are having populations of over 54,000. WHERE IS THE JUSTICE IN HAVING CHILD AFTER CHILD AFTER CHILD? I mean, if we don't try to educate ourselves and these people on making babies then how can things ever change? HEAR ME OUT first before watering down my comments on this. Imagine a municipality with barely enough to eat having a population of 50,000? Come on people use our brains when making children. I mean people should be encourage to do business if ever theres surplus of supply. Don't let it rot, try to sell it somewhere else. Look at Thailand, before they were just learning how to plant rice from IRRI and now, their economy is very robust with ONLY 70 million people, almost 1/4 less of our feudalistic society.

I hope that you would understand my argument. I have seen ricefields turn into houses and those houses be occupied by almost 2x the capacity of that house. Can we just not normalize the issue of overpopulation? I mean even with employment its so hard to find jobs because there are so many people for the employer to choose from.

I am against any sort of disease or pandemic but let me quote the almost 'positive' side of it:

quote:

Nobody knows just how many people the Black Death wiped out in Europe-one estimate puts the toll at 20 million or more. In England, one-third of the population may have died in the first onslaught, and subsequent recurrences brought the population down to around 2 million by 1400. The result was a wages explosion for those among the labouring classes who survived. Workers were so hard to find that they could demand, and win., large rises. Many farmhands doubled their pay at a stroke, deserting their landowners for better money elsewhere, and so accelerating social changes already in progress, as traditional relationships between lord and vassal were eroded. (Everyday life through the ages, 1992)

Again I am not calling for a genocide, NO NO NO NO. What I like to focus on IS SLOWING THE BURDENING RAMPANT ONSLAUGHT OF HIGH FERTILITY RATES or overpopulation. Sure a controlled population is a good thing, but what exactly are its benefits. For example, food resources like rice would not be always on demand. Electricity also would have a slower demand, gas, oil and other vital commodities. If that would be the case how would it affect again our economy, well for starters we could start by exporting things that we can produce on our own. If electricity and oil or gas has lower demands, Law of Supply and Demand puts it that their cost would go down immediately. Capitalists and like minded people can start investing here and have a renown interest in the Philippines as we have cheaper electricity, etc. Our employment rate would also rise as many people would benefit from this. Progressive ideas would also prosper as most people would be employed. Employing people and letting them participate in the capitalist society we have would increase their interest in being educated. Enough of those stupid quotes by our current beloved (ewww!) president duterte, we can challenge him or sue him if we have a powerful middle class, educated and has $$$$$.

If we continue on exporting people (like OFWs) and with our current trajectory of creating more babies, we might end giving those babies less and less opportunities. WHY WOULD GIVE BIRTH TO SOMEONE IF YOU CANNOT GIVE THEM A GOOD LIFE? FYI, ASK ANY QATARI WITH A DEGREE THAT HE HAS 20 JOBS WAITING for him. Beat that if you can. They only have a population of 2 million or so and a gdp/capita of $88,000. I would like to give an emphasis on how sparsely populated they are. Perhaps I would also like to point out that it is ok to create but not IRRESPONSIBLY as THIS COUNTRY HAS LIMITED RESOURCES.

and I think I'm just going to drop this
