Shows the power of crowdsourced hate for shite sponsorship in action. Amazingly good: only limitation is that you have to wait until enough people have contributed to a particular video in order for it to work, so it doesn't work when something is just released. It's weird how some sponsorships I can stand (for example, I don't really mind Brian Brushwood hawking boner pills and earbuds at me), but others set me off the wall (like Nick Nocturne or Reighbot bitching about me to buy Nord VPN or whatever). There's fundimentally no difference between the two, but I react almost violently to some.

At least NordVPN is a useful service. It's when I start hearing people shill for CBD oils or dick pills that I get mad.

That's one of my go-tos, but my favorite was when I got fired from a job and had to do a walk of shame after being escorted out by security, and what popped into my head was Mr. Butlertron: "Don't cry. Just make it to the parking garage." The security guy got real weirded out when I started giggling as I walked away.

Yea I’ve tried to get back into it, and it just doesn’t work (especially after Aziz was outed as a sex pest).

Supergirl had Linda Carter guesting as The President and the day after the 2016 election it all became so sadly optimistic. Reminded recently how the webcomic Strong Female Protagonist apparently lost a lot of steam after that, since all the social commentary analogies it was based around (with superpowers being various forms of privilege, apparently) was suddenly seriously rethought after the election and is probably still being contested, to say the least.

'haha look at these pasty white nerds playing D&D' is a joke that's near forty years old and is about as relevant in current times as making the same joke about a hardcore gamer.

Whedon uses it a lot as visual shorthand for vulnerability/innocence (the dolls in the Dollhouse, Fred shortly after her introduction in Angel, River most of the time). There's nothing like the introduction to Death Proof where Tarantino just opens on woman's feet before cutting to another shot which has a woman resting barefoot below a picture of a woman resting barefoot.
