I've made a huge mistake.
A daily reminder men are terrible.
Pop star Duffy says she was raped, drugged and held captive. Welsh singer made statement on Instagram saying she was held captive for several days.

I mean, that's rape, right? Maybe the lodger was fine with it, but ultimately that's extorting sex from someone who is depending on you for a place to live. Even if you say "You can pay in cash instead that's fine", is that a believable thing in that situation? Is it worth risking your ire when you can just conjure up some nonsense and kick them out if you're mad at them?

I dunno if it is legally pursueable or whatever but it certainly makes her a lovely person.

I think it might be power and its just typically men that have that?

Sorry, to clarify, I don't mean legally rape, I don't think it meets that criteria. Just morally, that's the kind of thing we would call rape.

Don't panic if you don't receive your ballot today. This is a huge election and it will take most of this week for everyone to receive their ballot.

If you have an individual email address on the system you will receive your ballot electronically. Only those who don't have an individual email address on the system will receive a ballot pack in the post.

Electronic ballots will come from labourelections@cesvotes.com, with the subject line The Labour Party – Election of Labour Leader and Deputy Leader 2020.

If you think you have not received your ballot please make sure you add the email address above to your 'trusted sender' list and check your junk mail before getting in touch with us.

Ballot reissue requests open on Monday 2 March. Please do not contact us to request a reissue before this date as we will not be able to help.

Once you have received your ballot you will only be able to vote once. You will not be able to change your mind subsequently.

Who're we voting for? I don't want to look into this too closely. Is the UKMT approved list similar to the Momentum one? They text me the other day

Despite myself I got the impression from various people that Starmer has this stitched up, so if that's the case then I'm thinking quitting in protest

Job application chat:

If you are asked to send your application in via email and it's a form not a cv, do you put the text of what would be your covering letter as the email body text, or do you write a polite but very short email saying 'please find attached' and send in the 'covering letter' as a separate file or merge it to the front of the application form file?
What do you think recent-job-hunting / recruiting folk?

Unless they ask for a cover letter don't send one, they won't read it.

Just send the form, and a short message.

Include the information you would be putting in your cover letter in the form, it should have a section for that sort of information (i.e. 'why do you want to work here, why do you think you're good for the position').

I have no idea really.

If I wanted them to read it on a bit of paper and see it all nicely presented as a proper letter then I would attach as a separate file, otherwise it risks getting printed out from an email and being a mess of forward forward so on gunk all over it and making me look like I don't care about presentation. But if they are only ever likely to read it on a screen then in the body of the email seems fine? I think I would still attach as a pdf though. But maybe the computer jobs you are applying to thats bad, so LaTeX.

Hello thread!

I’ve been avoiding reading anything at all about politics since mid December (my brain’s just getting too broke with the absolute state of things) and that’s included this thread.

The labour leader thing is happening and I don’t want to not vote, but currently have no idea.

I trust you: who’s still a raving lefty in the party because they can have my vote?

(I know I should read the thread or something but I really don’t want to, I’ll end up sad and angry and fighting with family again and I don’t have the mental capacity for that).
