i don't know what steam world is either but with shovel knight it's because they ran a kickstarter back when it was cool and overpromised a million stretch goals and so are lashed to the sisyphean task of pushing them all out for the next 30-40 years or until human society collapses, whichever comes first

I didn't say they were all those things at the same time!! Steamworld Dig 1/2 are metroidvanias Steamworld Heist is the 2D XCOM Steamworld Quest is a deck builder I haven't played the tower defense one because I don't like those

Help Im Alive posted:I didn't say they were all those things at the same time!! Have not played most recent one but all the other ones have ALL been good somehow. Dig 2 successfully iterates/improves upon Dig 1 which is a fun if kinda short game and the 2D XCOM one where you ricochet your shots halfway across the playfields is inspired

Dig 1 is good. Dig 2 and Heist are great. Quest is probably the worst one of those since it's kind of shallow/unbalanced but it's still ok.

I've gotten to stage 3 and also beat a stage 1 boss without dying once! My favourite gun so far is the prism that shoots laser bolts. Also I really hate the thief's lockpick as it never seems to work
