They should've at least panned over to the set for like a second or two. I still need to sell my mom on this game, and this clip would've done it. I showed her a few trailers (before the Direct came out) and I'm pretty sure she thought I was trolling her.

Public schools are basically being shut down for an entire month in a few days in Japan. Nintendo please push up the release date of New Horizons in Japan for these kids like, I don't even care if everyone else has to wait a month to get it but at least we still have to go outside and do things that will pass the time until then.

For Animal Crossing specifically? I sincerely doubt it, there'd be next to nothing to demo since they are extremely slow burns.

There are demos of other stuff on the eshop with carry over saves, so a little bit of both really Edit: they could let you do character and island creation then lock it at the first mortgage payoff with a "your thing won't be finished until March 21st" message or something. Then you can just fart around grinding bells if you really want I guess, other games have done similar poo poo.

Yeah nowadays, for triple A games at least, public demos are probably a liability. If you put out something that resembles the finished product, you dont want reviewers roaming over that and nitpicking at all the problems and leaving a review that's anything less than 10/10. Big companies dont like anything that can kill hype for thier products.

Nintendo especially is unkind to leaks and reveals they didn't intend, especially if there are things about their product that would turn off consumers, so they need to hide it as long as possible.

There was an FF7 Remake demo that got leaked and people datamined all sorts of poo poo from it and it probably led to them axing the public release of the demo so THANKS.

At PAX and was in queue line shortly before the expo opened, and yet the Nintendo booth was 100% full/capped (even the “check in for Isabel pin” line!) before I got there

The demo for Pokemon XY (I think, perhaps SuMo?) was a modified version of one route which showed off the new mechanics, and once you beat it could import into the main game an Ash-Greninja. They could do something similar where you're kicking around at the departure airport before you arrive on the island, and unlock a set of clothes/furniture/tools for helping clean or garden and do fetch quests? You could even time gate it in game, if having that turn up too early would sequence break - "Oh look! Your lost luggage has arrived!" The pokemon demos did get datamined to hell and back too, although in part that was put down to Gamefreak not being as thorough as expected when removing unused assets/code.

We've not seen it yet, but I doubt it's missing. I'm most curious about the butterfly area in the museum. You can see that the plants are only half-filled which implies flowers are donations, the museum is customizable or the museums decorations fill in as you add exhibits. It'd be nice to know which.

Actually thankful the 20 minute of gameplay from pax video is too loud and weird to watch. Couldn't think of a more "wrong" way to play than tethered to random idiots at a game con. Told myself I wouldn't watch any spoiler stuff but I've been eating up details ever since they started revealing.
