No. He was REALLY young when they signed him, like 18-19.

His dad Steve Wright did well for himself in Europe

No, but he was young and had some talent.

Total fuckin' silence.
Alex Wright is, as OSW Review would say, one of my "boys", referring to underrated wrestlers you're slightly embarrassed to admit liking. I think he was pretty talented and also he seemed to have a large knob.

My lasting memory of 2000 post-Berlyn Alex Wright is the horrific (not in the good way) Halloween Havoc 2000 where the commentators are going crazy putting him over in the multiman tag match he's in. He seemed very, erm, big, and bald.

Yes, Alex Wright is a big deal.

Had some seriously lousy luck. There was the Fall Brawl where he was supposed to beat Buff Bagwell and Buff refused to job (while WCW covered for him on air by saying Buff missed his flight). Then they send out Jim Duggan who basically shoots on him and refuses to sell. Then there was the whole immediate retooling of the Berlyn gimmick because of Columbine. Then he had a drat aneurysm, then when he amazingly returns, they saddle him with Disco Inferno. Plus the aborted Apocalypse angle.

I'm not sure he could have been a megastar but he deserved better.

I feel like the Dancing Fools might have worked a little better if they had had more than one dance move apiece.

It must have been weird to be more-or-less homegrown talent in a company that was determined to gently caress over and drive out young talent. They probably would have stuck him in the MIA if he'd been healthy.

The WWF wasn't exactly immune to this either; they also had ICP (first!), and Gangrel with his goblet of VISCOUS LIQUID and puffy shirt.

Wow, Bix. First K.Rool, then Steve and now SEPHIROTH? Your dream game is real!
Bald non-Berlyn Alex Wright was good. Just different. Check out the match he had with Danny Faquir (a.k.a. Dan Devine and Dan Factor) on one of the last episodes of Worldwide, for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9Ms8ewRcs0

Has the Vivacious Veronica backstory ever actually been...like, authoritatively reported anywhere? I know the shoot interview lore or whatever is that she was the mistress of a TBS exec, but...she was in Portland two years earlier as one of Scotty The Body's valets. And ECW a year later. And the USWA 2 years later as "Robin." So that doesn't track. But it also makes no sense that she'd be brought in ahead of Jeannie Clark/Lady Blossom.
