I've realized something about the Armored Rush tank ace ability. Sure it seems kind of meh with just being able to shoot the turret after advancing, but the Full Throttle tank order doesn't prevent shooting it just forces an advance. So you can combine the two to yeet a demolisher tank commander 22-32" across the board and still shoot, without a penalty to hit I might add. For 1CP you can then use the specialist detachment stratagem to still grinding advance. It's silly, but I think this could legitimately catch a few people by surprise.

GW has apparently responded on Facebook saying that the Ultramarine Cycles of War stratagem if used on turn 4 would turn the army to the devastator doctrine and on turn 5 it would go back to Assault.

That's a bit lame. They could at least errata it to basically start from the beginning in terms of actually, you know, starting the cycle again.

They probably don't want people to spend 4 rounds of a potential 8 round game in Tactical Doctrine. I do agree, though, that it makes the stratagem a lot less fluffy and interesting, and makes its name pretty strange.

No they aren't, and my post wasn't suggesting that you point and laugh at an Ultramarines player who tries to do this at a tournament. Just that GW posted it on Facebook and its a bit lame.

I'm working on the assumption that if their community team posts something there's good odds that it may become an official ruling and people shouldn't get their hopes up about Ultramarine devastator doctrine from turn 4 onwards.

Possibly, I've not sat there and tried to count up the advice they've given out on social media and map it to eventual FAQs.

It's still worth thinking that there are goods odds that it may get FAQ'd/errata'd considering its a comment about a fairly big change that's affecting a lot of players that came out yesterday.

It may not of course, but there's a half decent realistic possibility that it may if like 24 hours after the change is announced that's what's being posted on their social media.

Particularly since the Ultras want Tactical, so having a strat that takes them out of a doctrine they don't want into another doctrine they don't want and then back to the first doctrine they don't want is pretty amusing.

I've got good news and bad news.

The good news is space marines are going to be squatted.

The bad news is they are going to be renamed Primaris Marines, a phrase GW can finally copyright.

I like Primaris okay, everything I don't like about them is nit-picky. Like I hate the name Hellblasters, and I'm not crazy about the naming scheme in general.

Primaris unit names :

Inceptor
Invictor
Impulsor
Intercessor
Infiltrator
Incurser
HELLBLASTER

Also I feel like we're never going to get Primaris on bikes and that alone makes them slightly inferior to normal marines in my mind :colbert:

I think there's a primaris bike range coming. I also hate the naming conventions but I really like the models and that's mainly all I care about.

Cooked Auto

I think the last two things we'll see from the Bigly line is the bike and speeder. After that I think GW considers the line to be complete. At least for the time being. Even if I'm sure we'll see Gravis terminators before long.

And in a couple of years, Primaris Centurions as a repeat of the last hurrah of the normal marines.

Punkinhead
Apr 2, 2015

It would have been really cool if GW actually had at least a few chapters reject the Primaris leading to a lot of Astartes vs Astartes conflicts. Bonus points if they allow a big important chapter or character to go rogue. Instead they sort of hint at a conflict like that by saying "Yeah, some marines don't like them but if they don't accept them Robot Gullyman will put the hurt on them so they all just totally do it!!!"

And they could be represented on the tabletop by just using the regular SM Codex and allowing some special rules if the list built doesn't include any Primaris units.

Cooked Auto
Aug 4, 2007

I think the lore was implying that Gabriel Seth and the Flesh Tearers were all for rejecting them but I think they got so savaged at Baal while fighting the nids that they had no choice but to take them. At least Seth found them abhorrent at least but I doubt that will really lead to much.

You'll be able to do this using the Warhammer 40,000 Legends narrative campaign book coming 2025 when the small marines are completely replaced.

Yeah. I thought the space wolves might have kicked up a fuss but I guess it makes sense that they can smell one another and figured just put these new big boys through the neophyte trials and send them to the wolf priests for analysis.

Oh no, I meant Primaris Centurions. With drills and everything. Because GW will, inevitably, run out of ideas for Primaris Marine models. :cheeky:
I mean if fliers are suddenly a big deal in 9th we'd get a Primaris AA vehicle too. And then it'd get promptly forgotten in the edition after that much like its predecessor.

Considering they can also suffer Curse of the Wulfen the others shrugged and went "They're just like us so no worries there."

So, Lucius the Eternal is so named that if anyone kills him in combat and feels 'even the slightest amount of satisfaction about it', they'll be turned into Lucius. So what happens if a Necron kills him?

They're not immune to the warp and a necron warrior is pretty much an automaton so depending on who his daemon warp lawyer is on that day he might die or he might replace whoever the dynasty leader is since they technically killed him with a robot.
