I don't think I can really get into any trouble here. I don't work there anymore and all I signed was an employee handbook saying I won't share.

But gently caress em'

Operator was 'sleeping' (he was later fired for smoking outside his cab which is probably what was going on here) when a saw split in half and got caught in the log. The sharp chains beneath it kept pushing it through until the hydraulic tensioner tripped out and stopped the line.

I've seen a bunch of saw wrecks, snake-outs, sharp-chain strikes, and straight up blown-in-half saws but I never saw one stay in the log and get pushed down the line, operator did a proper job on this one.

I don't know how big of a room they were in, but 25kg of dry ice in an average living room will raise the concentration of CO2 to around 17%. Ten percent is considered immediately dangerous to life. And that's assuming it is evenly distributed around the space; CO2 is heavier than air, and if the people were in a pool their heads would be just a few inches above the surface of the water, meaning they could be breathing nearly pure carbon dioxide even in a much larger space.

A member of the emergency services told Ria news agency that the partygoers had ordered 25kg of dry ice to cool down the pool at the Devyaty Val (Ninth Wave) complex.

Several guests who had been in the sauna dived into the water to cool off.

Immediately the swimmers started to choke and several lost consciousness.

Preliminary analysis indicates the cause of death was suffocation.

Dry ice is a solid form of carbon dioxide and if it is released in an area without proper ventilation, it can cause people to inhale dangerous amounts of the gas.

I read somewhere that in long meetings, the CO2 levels in a conference room get high enough to cause cognitive impairment. Which explains a lot of the meetings I've been in. Debating about getting some sort of detector to see if this is true—found one that also has a fall alert that sounds in case you lose consciousness.

Russian mummy blogger Ekaterina Didenko distraught after three die at her birthday party
An Instagram star with more than a million followers is distraught after 25kgs of dry ice was added to a pool during her birthday party, killing three people including her husband.

Three people died and seven are critically ill after an Instagram star’s pool party stunt turned to tragedy.
The Sun reports that victims reportedly suffered carbon dioxide poisoning when a huge load of dry ice was chucked into the water to create a spectacular “steam show” effect.

Moscow mum blogger Ekaterina Didenko, who has 1.1 million followers, was celebrating her 29th birthday in a pool and sauna complex in the Russian capital.
Her husband Valentin, 32, was among three fatalities after he unloaded 25kg of dry ice, or frozen carbon dioxide, into the pool.

It was meant to delight partygoers by producing huge clouds of theatrical smoke.
But guests immediately began suffering severe breathing problems and fainting, and some reportedly had chemical burns.
Natalia Monakova and Yuri Alferov, both 25, were confirmed dead at the scene, according to reports in Russia.
IT specialist Valentin Didenko, also known as Valya, died in hospital.

Ms Didenko was initially reported to be among the dead but posted a video online from her bed in hospital before she knew her husband had died.
She told followers: “I am alive, I am behind the doors of an intensive care ward.
“I don’t know who died. Valya is in the intensive care. I don’t know what state he is in.”

Later she posted another video of herself weeping as she told followers her daughter Nastya was asking: “Where is Daddy?”
She said after being released from hospital: “Valya is not with us any more.
“Or Natasha (Natalia). Or Yura (Yuri). I can’t tell you anything else.
“I did not cry yesterday. Today I just exploded.
“I thought it was not true, it was a nightmare.
“Nastya woke up today – ‘Where is daddy?’ I do not know what to say to her …
“She is asking me: ‘Why are you crying?’”

Dry ice is frozen carbon dioxide and produces heavier-than-air vapour when mixed with water.
In high concentrations it can cause levels of carbon dioxide in blood to soar, blocking oxygen from reaching vital organs.
The three who died were in the water at the time, reports say.

Reports said Natalia and Yuri died from pulmonary oedemas after breathing the gas.
One expert questioned if this was normal dry ice or contained “another substance” that worsened the poisoning.
Valentin Didenko had wanted “to create an impressive steam show” as party guests jumped into the pool.
Moments earlier guests had been laughing and clinking glasses, social media pictures show.

Mother-of-two Ekaterina, a qualified pharmacist, is a popular Instagram blogger who gives advice on medicines for home use.
She also shares intimate moments of her own life and in some videos she is seen filming chemical experiments with her young daughter.

The Russian Investigative Committee confirmed a criminal case was opened into causing death by negligence.

In 2018, an ice cream salesman’s wife and mother were found unconscious in a car in Washington State, US – apparently from the vapour from four dry ice coolers.

I honestly don't think so, I think it's the opposite. He had a career resurgence with the John Wick movies and all of a sudden instead of him being "oh yeah remember that guy" he's a hot property and all of these back-burner ideas are being picked up. Also he lives really frugally compared to a lot of people in his position.

They're all sequels because Hollywood is incredibly conservative about new properties, of course.

Oh and carbon dioxide in water turns into carbonic acid too so whatever they didn't breath in above the water's surface was probably what was responsible for the chemical burns a couple of people had too.

Well, maybe? I'm not a chemist but apparently that doesn't matter.
