Super Tuesday is here.
There have been 10 debates.
7 candidates were at the last debate. 2 dropped out immediately after and(at least) 1 other has a dead campaign.
Climate change was never discussed in spite of an in-progress insect global extinction event.

Should be noted everything happening now with corona virus is the 'normal' when it comes to climate change. Science is clear, effects already underway, only possible way to save lives is to act now, politics and markets over science and health. Really makes it clear no one will be held accountable and nothing will be done to save lives, since we don't do that now with a similar threat that is 1000x dangerous even in the short term.

Even if someone is morally okay with disposing of the older and poorer people who are likely to succumb to this tragedy, the fact that the mortality rate mostly hits 70+ year olds means it's unlikely to make any appreciable difference in attitudes or responses to climate change.

Billionaries, Congress, the white house and even down to most state level leaders will be able to afford care, and even be prioritized for scare resources when it comes to treatment. So you won't get a mass dying of people who have the power to change things but currently have a financial incentive to ignore climate change. The only real way for this mass death thing to help is to directly link these sort of disasters with climate change and hope the mental damage from watching your parents and grandparents die will galvanize a generation to act. But we aren't doing a good job linking everyday life to the effects of climate change so that is unlikely to happen.

A lot of pop science has been focused on melting permafrost and the diseases that could be reintroduced to humans. The fact that global climate change will increase the frequency and severity of random regular global pandemics is less sexy and gets less clicks.

imagine a post-Bernie presidency world where the next conservative prez pledges to rollback Medicare-for-all and federally legal weed and brokebrained conservatives (but I repeat myself) cheer it on because dying of preventable illnesses while in millions of dollars of medical debt might be bad, but it will own the libs

If you get sick enough from Coronavirus to possibly die the only thing money buys you is a ventilator tube and a series of escalating measures that either don’t work well or will probably leave you a vegetable.

If Bernie actually got Medicare-for-all done, and Republicans tried to run on taking it away, they'd get steamrolled so unbelievably hard. That's one big reason why they're fighting so hard against the idea, because if it were ever actually enacted people would love it and you'd never ever be able to roll it back. Much like Social Security.
