sharknado slashfic posted:I suppose this is a current event. Reading the information on Covid-19 Age/Sex/Existing Conditions as a 30-39 year old my chances of dying from this (based on current estimates which I know may be wrong) is .2%. But by pre-existing conditions, if I have hypertension (and nothing else wrong with me) that number jumps to 6%. Am I reading this right, because 6% is a bit uncomfortable. That's not super useful without full crosstabs of age+comorbidity, it's probably less "hypertension makes you more likely to eat poo poo and die" and more "being old makes you eat poo poo and die and olds are majorly overrepresented in the hypertension bucket"

Welp The Ministry of Health called a press conference after enquiries from RNZ's Checkpoint about a positive Covid-19 case on Auckland's North Shore. Two guesses where I live.

Smoking causes hypertension so that data may be confounded. Adding the hypertension condition may pit you into the pool that smokes too.

There are numerous reports on Twitter from the cool kids that the sirens were working. Con: Biden's surging in Virginia, North Carolina, and the black vote is turning out like crazy for him. Might be a near-push between him and Bernie tonight. Pro: Bloomberg's getting annihilated. Except he did win American Samoa because he put a handful of staffers there.

Frankly, it's a relief to have a natural disaster to talk about, compared to the national disaster that is every day. Sucks about the victims, but hey, night tornado in Nashville, could've been a hell of a lot worse. All my people still local to Nashville are fine. Got a brother out there, but he's flung far enough north that he just got thunderstorms. Buddy out by Mt. Juliet is fine, but it cut a much closer line to his place than anyone else I know. loving wild how closely the Nashville tornadoes have followed the same trail. Maybe make a loving natural area out of the entire strip.
