if we even have a president Bernie at this point (and god willing we still can make it happen), there is no way for his agenda to pass without people like Cisneros in office. I'd say there's plenty of other campaigns like her's going on, but there really aren't. most people running have no idea what the gently caress they're doing, or the organization to achieve a victory.

I think we do in Delaware with Scarane, but admittedly if the nominee is loving Biden, that changes the calculus.

yeah, this is the problem with not having a bench of state house / state senate / mayors / etc. to draw from (and why I try to get involved with local campaigns and party politics as much as possible)

campaigning is a skill and is really, really tough to do well even with experienced mentors/advisers, which most insurgent candidates won't have, but those lower level offices give a candidate a chance to learn how, don't require campaigning to be a full time job, and if successful, give a ready-made infrastructure from which to build.

Group up and push mid, proletariat!

been thinking about the centrist argument that nominating a more centrist candidate will gain more votes than it loses, and I think I had a Matt Bruenig troll idea.

From the point of view from a true believer centrist, consider that the only reason a candidate loses a vote for being too moderate is that the candidate is in the condition that it has gained more than one vote for being sufficiently moderate

Therefore, for each voter a candidate loses for being too moderate, the candidate's chances in the election improve.

Therefore, a candidate that loses many voters due to being too moderate e.g., a "bernie or bust" type "bust" is more powerful than a candidate who does not inspire such a "bust" type reaction.

Therefore, a candidate under which the biggest "bust" occurs is the candidate with the best chances.

Therefore, centrists should have their candidate their campaign act in a way that encourages more people to "bust"

forgetting that old people are the ones who elected trump to begin with and the older someone is the more likely they are to approve of and support trump

they blew their decade long cooldown on political savvy trying to stop bernie and now they're stuck with the one person in the country sundowning faster than trump
