im permabanned poster networthstomper58. i first started budgeting when i was about 12. by 14 i got really obsessed with the concept of “excels” and tried to channel it constantly, until my thought process got really bizarre and i would repeat things like “efund” and “401k” in my head for hours, and i would get really paranoid, start investing in bitcoins etc, basically just being incapable of shutting up. im now on whiteclaws. i always wondered what the kind of “reconciliation” budgeting was all about; i think it’s the unconscious leaking in to the conscious, what jungian theory considered to be the cause of denying my children pizza. i would advise all people who “get” my excels to be careful because that likely means you have a predisposition to a mental illness. peace.

It was one of the best times of my life.

Nowadays, with all the scams and money laundering going on, I've been cut out from all the money

As of today, Christmas, I have $109,255 combined in savings, emergency fund, 401k, IRA, and mutual funds. Dashboard will be updated 12/31: Dashboard showed a smaller balance at some point. At some point, I reached my goal of $6,890. I will probably stay at this level. I am still in the "Youth Success and Marriage" category in Dashboard, even though that is something that is almost completely outside of my control. I do know I need to maintain my goal to be healthy and keep my weight within my guidelines.

Not really an rear end in a top hat, just futilely hoping you’ll discard the useless (for your situation) idea of “net worth”. The current balance of accounts you won’t touch for at least 25 years doesn’t matter. Keeping your contributions maxed does.

Wait, don't include all assets and liabilities in net worth calculation? How do you calculate Net Worth?
Or you're saying you don't because it's a useless number?
Or you're simpy saying *I* shouldn't document my net worth because it's pointless... simply focusing on maxing contributions and budgeting is all that matters?
What are you saying, MAN?

Fez, ok thanks, I understand. I only ever added the net worth calculation out of curiosity as well as looking for somewhere I could see actual improvement. And of course just to have something to do in Excel, moving numbers around and such.

Lets hear a justification on what you bought that was necessary for blowing your budget.

Taffies.. just chill and relax.. I'm bossin it like a boss.. winnign to the maxxxxx bro. chill and watch.. just you wait. No I couldn't make it 10 days to not gently caress with my budget..

Do I realize that any money comign in this month shoudl be put into next month's budget? No.. Oh.. well gently caress.

I know that this is a LONG rear end shot here but the best way to budget if you can / have that buffer to do so (if not it should be your goal first)

Income from last month gets set as this month's budget.. and it gets followed (Second part for our z man)
Income from this month gets set aside (yes even windfalls of magic money from lucky charms boxes) for next month.. then you set and follow the budget for that month.
Wash, rinse, repeat.

Zaurg, your problem is that you try and micro manage your budget and finances way too god drat much. I don't budget but i do track my expenses, and other then checking my accounts, I only update my monthly expenses once a month at the end of every month. I do that because in general, nothing loving changes month to month. It boggles my mind that you are constantly tweaking your budget so much moving poo poo around. That not at all how it should work. You should be able to figure out an average per month for each category and then leave it alone. Some months you will be under, some you might be over, but they balance each other out. Constantly loving moving stuff from one category to another to make your numbers work is ridiculous and reminds me of people that try to game their credit score instead of just being responsible and it will take care of itself.
