I think I have a touch more sympathy because I have missed two local elections in recent memory due to just being an ADHD poster child and forgetting what day it was. Mostly, I'm thinking of the 18-21 bracket that may not actually know that mail-ins are even an option. Otherwise, yeah, I agree that it can't be pinned entirely on 'it's Tuesday.'

Not sure who has the worse government for this since China seems to be getting it under control (I think? Last I read) but aren’t telling their citizens anything, or our dipshit government who can’t seem to do ANYTHING right.

Now that the lockdown is over, it's back to business as usual, so the government propaganda machine is now back to operating capacity too. And like Old Boot said, now China is concerned about the coronavirus importing itself back in, so the propaganda of "all these other countries are poo poo at this, we did it right" is the country line.

My company sent out a survey on Monday asking if people could WFH and how feasible it would be. Super ironic considering a year ago, a majority of us WFH 2-3 days a week and we had multiple FTE working from home without issue before some VP got the galaxy brain idea to end working from home except for one day a week. I'm not bitter about any of this, why do you ask? I figured we'd be told by the end of the week to just WFH till April, but now it sounds like HR is dragging their feet on it. They're now saying people can come to them on a case by case basis and ask to WFH if they are immunocomrpomised or have anxiety.

Our company culture has some very anti-WFM nuance. We're all set up for remote work, most people could accomplish most of their poo poo from home, and it would probably improve morale. But people will also act like you're scamming if you do it. My boss does it often enough, but I'm not allowed to. Hopefully he's not conceding just yet. Even if he can't win he should put some pressure on Joe going into the convention. Casimir Radon fucked around with this message at 17:07 on Mar 11, 2020 |

I'm not going to say that I will definitely vote for Biden in November. That would be foolish, because it would mean that he wouldn't have to budge an inch to get what he wants. He needs to earn my vote, and he can do that by showing that he's meaningfully different from Trump somehow. He's got 8 months to do it. This situation could be salvaged and Biden could turn out to be a decent candidate, but that sure as hell won't happen if everyone on the left agrees to vote for him no matter what. But there's a chance it might if the Democrats realize that they can't win in November without meeting the left halfway. That's politics baby. So maybe people could cool it with the "vote blue no matter who" and "you just want Trump to win" bullshit? Stop acting like he deserves all of our votes just because he's on "our" team.

Look, I'm not saying that you shouldn't vote for Biden. I'm saying that you shouldn't say you will definitely vote for Biden (or against Trump) no matter what. Do you understand the difference? It's about bargaining for a better platform. You don't start bargaining by saying "I'll give you whatever you want no matter what".
