I don't really get what I'm looking at here. it seems crudely drawn but immaculately modeled and painted. I suspect this is the artist's intent, it's impressively strange and ugly

I kinda love that giant, because it hearkens back to the older artwork where chaos was as much just loving *weird* as anything. Like, yeah, there's still mutation and chaos spawn and stuff in the setting. But mostly it's just turning more evil-er. Whereas in the old stuff, chaos just got bizarre the further in you got.

I like to think the tiny head on top is not in control of anything, the real head that does controls this body is the stomach. The tiny head is likely some chaos warrior who is either being punished or made a terrible mistake which has landed him in this predicament.

Age of Sigmar and 40k 8th are pretty much the equivalent of when Star Wars makes toys out of the dude on cloud city holding the ice cream machine - anything that is ever mentioned once in passing gets an entire army, and completely loses everything that makes them interesting.

Second this. Making custodes something any list can beat was a bad fluff decision. If they were hard committed to having custodes on the tabletop, they should have been one-of characters like assassins that you can drop in any imperial list for the sole purpose of wrecking house. You don't notice bad faces if you dremel out the fleshy parts leaving nothing but hollow suits of armour behind. Years of gaming has shown me the truth - the only good elf army is one where you physically remove all instances of the elf.
