New str/end system is kinda dumb and they are shitbags for not just punishing cheaters and instead resetting everyone.

I do like that it punishes fat greasy gearlords and helps the poor though.

Interchange lighting changes are nice, "pull a lever before you can put the key in the kiba door" is dumb.

Would have been nice if they actually added ichange raiders.

The weight changes feel kind of half assed but I think they wouldn’t feel nearly as bad if they simply removed strength gain from melee, removed strength gains from skill exhaustion, and allowed you to gain points in strength while you’re at less then fully encumbered. Even if they didn’t remove skill exhaustion there’s no reason I should have to exploit, spam grenades nonstop, or walk slower than I do with two blacked out legs to level strength.

And for anyone wondering how 1001ad is at max endurance: there’s a place on reserve where you can have someone open a door while you’re offline and you’ll fall through the map. There’s probably more, I personally know of another one under white queen as well but the whole thing just seems stupid and I wish I wasn’t forced to do it. I’m avoiding it for now but if these changes aren’t reverted soon or strength isn’t given a realistic method to level it I don’t see how anyone running high tier gear sets has a choice to not simply cheese it.

I'm not even playing right now but I'm gonna take a guess that your issue is that there is a point between filling literally every item slot you can and leaving a raid with a hatchet that you are not exploring.

Which granted, for a loot based game is probably not the ideal scenario but Tarkov's obsession with realism had to catch up with itself somewhere.

The game is literally ruined because you can’t carry an entire A+B rig full of loot with a pilgrim on your back full of Russian doll backpacks and rigs also full of loot and folded weapons. Unplayable. Unreal.

Actually, the problem is that a standard high end loadout rapidly approaches 35kg. This leaves any backpack bigger than an attack 2 as nearly worthless because you need to cut weight somewhere in order to maintain functionality. I’m also going to pretend you have at least four grenades, a salewa on your rig, and let’s say 3 60 round mags for your m4. Congratulations, you are now officially at 37-40kg and are receiving a movement penalty. This would be fine, but that movement penalty doesn’t cause you to gain ANY points towards your strength stat, you know, the thing that should level up naturally and allow you to carry progressively more and more things.

So with a 40kg loadout you’re limited to 15-20kg of loot as anything over 58kg will incur massive penalties. Despite this, you still won’t gain ANY points in strength until you’re walking (more like shambling) with 63kg on your back.

This patch did nothing to alleviate the actual problem: strength as a stat. Strength will still exist and players are going to continue to exploit it since they don’t get banned for it. Also, in a live game you would eventually gain levels just by throwing grenades to eventually reach at least lvl 10 strength which would alleviate loot issues. As it is right now if I go in with a full loadout I can basically loot two helmets and some ammo from any team I kill. I still get to strip down weapons so that’s not a big deal because there’s not a lot of weight there. But I can’t grab propane tanks, blue fuel, vases etc.

The issue is that strength needs to be reworked. The sprint speed bonus should be removed or toned down and strength should gain .1 point/km at yellow weight, .2/km at orange weight, etc. each level in strength should increase carry weight by .5kg with elite level granting an extra 5kg (instead of a floating backpack) for a whopping total of 100kg carried before you hobble.

Being limited to lower amounts of loot is fine, vacuuming up entire maps into an icase is dumb as gently caress and needed to be toned down. In the meantime though, strength gain needs to be adjusted to match the gear curve.

This whole thing where you think a lot of us are running around looting everything we see pretty much tells me you haven’t played this game with any sort of high end loadout. This is even worse now that you can wear two t6 armors at the same time. Doing that actually makes you unable to loot anything which is kind of pointless.

Oh, well then we're basically on the same page. The skill system is bad at best and while I do think it'd be cool to not just run into nothing but level 5 armor juggernauts for the rest of time approximately a month after a patch they definitely boned the values on the encumbrance system here. Granted they have already proved willing to tweak it quickly so one hopes. Ha ha ha.

Well, that's not true but go on.

Sure, I’ll go on.

If loadouts are going to get heavier as they go up in value (disregarding killa armor and ghzel) then strength should gain at a natural curve that allows someone with an airframe/zhuk at 30-40 strength to carry as much loot as a naked person with a backpack and a mosin at lvl1 strength.

This isn’t complicated and bringing gear shouldn’t be something players only do when they’re looking for profitless pvp.

If the point of the weight change was to nerf high end loadouts then armor and helmets should be adjusted to be more effective overall but weigh more to prevent you from looting anything. That clearly wasn’t the intent of the change though so strength gain should just be streamlined and sprint movement speed should be removed from it. I would actually go as far as to remove diminishing returns from strength gain and also remove gaining strength from melee hits.

I can’t stress enough, I don’t think the weight change went far enough. With max strength you’re now looking at max weights of like 120kg or so which is absurd to begin with even if we ignore that it only counts backpack weight. A lot of people talking about how great this is clearly don’t seem to understand that people with extra roubles and time or people who are willing to exploit are going to be carrying even more poo poo than they did before (ignoring stuff like filling icases in raid.) The weight system itself is fine, skills like strength and endurance just need to be adjusted or removed and if they’re removed entirely then max weight before you’re unable to walk should actually be around 70-80kg instead of the current value of 63kg.

I wouldn’t worry too much about it because I would hopefully gain levels towards the stat that allows me to progressively carry more and more things while also running twice as fast for some loving reason.

I’m really not your target here. I like the weight changes, as I’ve expressed. I just think strength needs to be gainable without either spamming grenades or handicapping yourself by weight 63kg so you walk at 1/4 speed.

This isn’t complicated and I’m not whining about not being able to fit three raid backpacks filled with ammo and gun mods. I just think strength should actually gain levels during normal gameplay like... every other soft skill?
