I need some DIY advice. My daughter bought me a benchtop dishwasher because I literally cannot put my hands in hot water at the moment (don't ever get hand-foot syndrome). The problem we need to solve is that the kitchen sink tap has a 20mm thread while the dishwasher hose needs a 25mm thread. I assumed that a simple trip to Bunnings would provide a solution but it didn't. They maintain they don't have any kind of adapter which would solve the problem. I refuse to believe there isn't a doo-hickey which would either reduce the dishwasher hose fitting from 25mm to 20mm or one which would increase the kitchen tap from 20mm to 25mm. Or even a hose which is 25mm one end and 20mm the other. I want to avoid having to get a plumber to install a new tap. What are my options?

Provided it’s a standard fitting there are adaptors to fit your needs. A quick google suggested hills irrigation has a suitable fitting or a plumbing supply place may also have what you need. I know bunnings is most convenient but they’re a little lost when you ask for something specific.

I think outside of specialist areas like electricity the staff at bunnings are just random people. I had to find an adaptor for an airline at the end of Janurary and ended up at a car parts store because they had what I needed

my favourite part about going to the footy is when you can just hear some old oval office near you who is clearly louder than anyone else in the section and he's got a grudge against a line ref for a decision they made four seasons ago

My son and his wife just had to cancel their trip to Europe. European countries are starting to put restrictions on travel from other places within Europe and Singapore isn't letting any flights from Europe land there.

I moved my 11th March LAX flights to September. Missing a wedding in the US but each day brings more restrictions and bad news so glad I'm staying put.

I had a big day out yesterday and now we're turtling up for a month or so to see how things pan out. I survived a viral pneumonia/sepsis episode in '98 that nearly killed me and smoked for 30 years and still smoke way too much weed. I'll be triaged out of any real treatment, lucky to get some O2 and going anywhere near a hospital means I'll get it.I already saturate at 95% and falling so I have no leeway. This will kill me quick. Missus bails from work Monday, kids will be resupplying us. We are so lucky but I'm determined to keep a week in front of this if I can because I have no faith in the current leadership on any level. Take care guys, hope you got some dunny paper and the virus just gives you a light touchup. Hope you dodge it all Lolie, you deserve to be passed over. I'm going to hang out with the only local I can trust atm

There was palpable urgency at the Woolies in Camberwell this morning. Joint was getting ransacked, big queues. Some weird things, diced and crushed canned tomatoes all gone but lots of canned whole tomatoes. Quick oats all gone, but lots of normal rolled oats.

There’s only one old bloke out here with balls that big and people keep talking about putting him down bc he’s real loving old and away from his mob which is apparently a sign he’s on the way out but how can you just go out there and snuff out that burning flame like that

I'm just buying a bit extra of the things I normally use. I'm not preparing for surviving on beans and rice because if things break down to that extent it's likely my access to essential meds would also have broken down. Might as well go out eating what I like. Probably time to buy a few more frozen veggies and some long life milk, though. The kids can bring me anything which isn't urgent.

i'm stocked up to last a few months and want to go into lockdown but because we are considered essential there is no chance we'll be quarantined until after someone at my site is infected and i'm pretty high risk so probably gonna be hosed. asthma, compromised immune system and a smoker so pretty worried about my odds. survived pneumonia once before when i was younger but don't know how i'd go a second round. hope everyone stays safe and take precautions where you can yall. also putting my holiday plans to go to the US for my birthday on hold even though it's later in the year waiting to see how things pan out. naeka fucked around with this message at 05:04 on Mar 14, 2020 |

Tbh though I'm gonna have to stock up a bit because I am not set up if I have to go into quarantine. Might get a big frying pan and knock up a couple big batches of pasta sauce to freeze etc. I still have my doubts this will turn into a full blown plague but we'll see I guess. I'll just stock up on long term storage stuff/non perishables and see how I go
