They are absolutely releasing this year. I saw a tweet from one of them not long ago where they said they've put out a record every two years and this one is four years since Low Teens which means it has to be their best one yet. I have full faith. gently caress they're great.

Low Teens is going to be an absurdly high bar to surpass, though. Then again, Architects, Periphery, Polaris and Knocked Loose released absolutely baller records in the last year/last few months or so.

Also holy poo poo, I have literally listened to The Death of Me at least once a day ever since it was recommended by this thread. "I Let It In..." by Loathe has also been great!

That Heaven Shall Burn is drat nice

After a week of almost nonstop listening, I think the two new TAS songs are my favorite material from them since Continent. I’m really excited for more of this record. It’s like melding Dead Walk, Continent and Coma Witch but with the best production of any of them.

Caught opening night of TAS tour last night in New Haven. They crushed, as always. My favorite live band by far. I came out of old washed up dude mosh retirement for them and I may have torn my meniscus lol. Set seemed oddly short and ended abruptly with Send Help and then suddenly the lights came up and everyone was gone. I think the fact that two bands no-showed (Fuming Mouth and Creeping Death) may have hosed them up or something.

Chamber were on first, they were decent - it sounded like early 2000s metalcore, which I'll never pretend not to like. Rotting Out were surprisingly great, really energetic LA hardcore band. I'll check them out in more depth after last night.

TAS setlist from memory, order is probably a little hosed up. DITOM and Gravebloom notably absent. Was hoping for Dust & The Helix and Model Citizen. Both of the new songs play amazingly well live, and people knew the words like 18 hours after the songs were released which was rad.

Allah Ackbar that they moved it to their larger stage. That means Currents and/or headliner silent planet outsold The Acacia Strain and is on the level of Periphery ticket sales-wise.

Rotting Out were awesome. High point of the show (apart from TAS) to me. Vocalist needs to get his cardio up though. He was struggling to find his breath after one song when I saw the tour. Maybe he’s doing better by now.

Saw 'em play in Denver a few months back. They killed it, but he was definitely huffing and puffing at times. I just assumed it was our thin air loving with him (which is suuuuper common to see at concerts)

Edit: I think I like the new Code Orange , despite never really liking anything else from them. I don't see it being in my top five, probably not even top 10, of the year, but it'll definitely get some decent play time over the next week or so

The metalcore tracks are better than the ones on Forever but the alt rock/nu metal rear end songs are way worse.

That's an incredibly low bar to clear, tho'. Like there's a few bangers in Forever (among them, the opener/title track ), but it's a really basic-rear end record. Like I get all the comparisons they're getting to Poison the Well and Deadguy but it's like "Nothing in either Forever, I am king or Love is Love compares to 12/23/93"

I like the new Code Orange. It's a good enough record but the 92 Metacritic score is a bit much, there's no way it was gonna live up to that sort of hype so i couldn't help but feel a little underwhelmed after listening to it.

I think You Fail Me or most of The Dillinger Escape Plan and ETID's discographies measure up.

poo poo, for as much naysaying as it got for being associated with the term, Poison the Well themselves basically released the best "mallcore" song.

Heard the new Code Orange album.

Like Amo last year at least felt like an understandable direction for BMTH to take after both Sempiternal and That's the Spirit and after both I Am King and Forever, it also sorta makes sense what these kids are trying to do, but holy poo poo, it's barely 50 minutes long and I felt.. like I wanted to let one rip but couldn't? Like maybe whoever members also play in Adventures (I think it's at least half the band at this point?) should keep them butt-rock jams separate from the whole :byodood: "THINNERS OF THE HERD, MOTHERFUCKER" rippers.

Record feels all over the loving place.

Don’t slander Adventures by comparing them to these butt rock tracks. Also they haven’t done anything in five years and I don’t know if the band even acknowledges that project anymore.

Oh, don't get me wrong: I like Adventures. But it'd have been sorta hilarious if Code Orange had gotten bigger because of their more accessible/overall slightly better side-project.

I checked their music at around the time Forever had come out and, funnily enough, it got me into a huge Saosin kick. It felt weird realizing that Translating the Name had come out almost 14 years ago from back then.

I keep thinking about how big they could get and while they're probably hoping "As I Lay Dying, Lamb of God, Trivium and Killswitch Engage in the mid 00's" or "Bring me The Horizon post-Suicide Season" the only thing that comes to mind is maybe like... Periphery from the time Nolly joined the band and hoping that they get as dedicated a hardcore fanbase as them or Darkest Hour after Kris Norris left the band post-Deliver Us because otherwise we're probably gonna end up seeing another God Forbid/Shadows Fall debacle.
