Also loved the show, and picked up the first book. Did enjoy Witcher 2 back in the day as well. Witcher is hot right now folks! I will say, it is funny how RPGs get you with that addictiveness and kind of nudge you in that direction. Like the starting area has a side quest with good sword papers etc, and it recommends level 6. I was fine doing it at level 3, but point being I've been in the starting area for 15 hours and just cleared every icon. I gather that later on you should ignore a bunch of the ? icons though. Anyways, RPGs are addictive, they are cocaine and cocaine accessories in digital form, and they are good when they're good. And this does seem good.

Sonic Generations was good too, the best part was past Eggman and future Eggman arguing. I thought it did a nice job of paying homage to the older games while still making fun and PLAYABLE levels (looking at you, Sonic 06). I played half off there first level of Sonic: Lost World and just couldn't get into it. I don't think frankesteining Mario Galaxy into Sonic worked out. Sonic Mania made me realize I enjoy normal Sonic levels but the bonus levels and boss fights can gently caress off. Tron: Legacy was a dope movie. I really liked the aesthetic and I'm bummed the spin off show died and the franchise didn't get to build on that. Sure, the plot was dumb and the whole concept falls apart if you look at it sideways, but the design was rad and the music was bangin. Same was true of the original Tron, so it was consistent.

And on top of that I was impressed by their DJing chops, but it's like a specific style of DJing that I think myself and a lot of people would associate with black, American club music from the early 90s, and someone in the comment section said that some old Chicago house dude taught Daft Punk how to DJ. And in general I've just never really been into Daft Punk, like I enjoyed a few singles like Digital Love when I was in high school, but even then I was just into different types of electronic music, so to hear that set is really weird and all of that stuff is a really huge influence on a lot of the club music that I love and some of them still tour every now and then, and if I go to shows it's either weird electronic stuff like OPN or whatever, or seeing DJs like that (I drove to portland from like where I live, a bit north of the bay area, a few years ago to see bok bok and a couple other people on that label DJ, because they're from London and hadn't really ever played in the US). also remember DJ Hero tho?? lmbo, i never played it and even though I loved the first 2/3 guitar hero games, I just assumed that it was shite, like, the reason why guitar hero even works is the clickiness of the buttons and the 'strum ba'r.and i haven't even seen any videos of dj hero being played, but it looks like you sorta press random buttons on it which doen't really make sense then you fake 'scratch' for the entire song is that right??

DJ Hero’s a decent game but they really screwed up the “making it feel like using a turntable” aspect. Most of the time you just tap the buttons or slide the cross fader. Because, you know, tapping randomly on a non-moving record is a thing that DJs do all the time. Activision never really knew what to do with the Hero games after they bought the rights from Harmonix.

I had a lot of fun with Monster Hunter World (need to get properly into Iceborne at some point) and after I'd made my way through most of the game I started trying out other weapons to see what they could do. I found that there are a lot of different styles and each weapon has its own quirks and combos to get acquainted with. From the ones I tried and became most familiar with: DUAL BLADES are a whirling frantic fast attack weapon, you dice up the enemy in front of you with a flurry of combo attacks, building up a meter that allows you to go into DAEMON MODE where your combo attacks are slightly different, same basic idea but more damage through more chaotic swings. You use dash/slide attacks to move around into the enemy's weak zones and then mash attacks where you stand in place whirling your blades to do all the damage to their weak points, then dodge away with more dash attacks if you become threatened at any point. They also have a sweet jumping attack where you Beyblade your way along the back of the monster dealing a lot of damage. They're alright, but very one-note weapons, and I feel like there aren't too many interesting designs (ice chainswords are pretty cool though, and learning to farm the battlegoose will earn you a sick pair of axes) or particularly powerful options. My first weapon, and I liked it for a while but wanted something more interesting. Hack and slash is the name of this game. SWORD AND SHIELD is a solid all-round weapon, no two ways about it. You've got a mix of attacks, fast jabbing combos for breaking parts and sapping health, a slower shield-bash combo that can build up stun damage, a backdash that can get you out of reach and combo straight into a lunge attack, and if you know how to use all these attacks it keeps you very mobile and gives you a lot of options. Your shield can tank some damage but isn't going to stop everything (if you're after a defensive build, there are Guard skills that can be helpful here) but it again is another tool giving you more opportunities to stay in the fight. It also allows you to use items with your weapon drawn (though this ability miiiight not be so valuable now Iceborne exists). A ton of utility and a lot of potential, while it might be a "beginner" weapon there's actually a whole lot you can do with it. A few really nice versions of these, such as the slick Legiana blade or Rathalos blade, or if you want to use a weapon called the Master Bang that's also a good one. BOW is one of your very few choices for ranged damage, and boy is it a choice. It's all about moving, targeting weak points and breakable parts, and using consumables to build and apply status effects. Your attacks increase in damage as you continue to attack, like a combo increasing the damage of your second, third and potentially fourth attack with the right skill points. You can also advance these stages by dodging around, also allowing you to be mobile and get better angles on a monster. Your damage drops if you're too close or too far from the monster, so you also need to keep at a comfortable range to get the most out of it. It's a lot to juggle and compared to all your melee weapons it's a really different way to approach a monster, but it can be a very potent weapon once you learn how to use it. The elemental consumables available change for each weapon so you might find something you really like that lets you down by not having your desired effect as an option. Some don't even have the basic Power one available, which can be a bit restricting on the amount of damage you can do, but may have more elemental options to compensate. I loved this weapon, but only after spending way too long with the Sword & Shield's bigger brother... CHARGE BLADE is a monstrosity of a weapon, often referred to as the most complicated weapon because of how its mechanics and its two forms work. It's a heavily defensive choice in sword/shield mode that packs a huge amount of offensive damage in its massive axe mode, but unleashing this requires charging a meter through attacking with the sword, performing one special move to empower your shield with the sword's energy to buff its defense and also enable more powerful attacks, then building that charge meter again with sword attacks, then transforming to the axe to deal massive charge-consuming blows, or performing another special combo move to let all that power out in one super ultra explosion of power that is super embarrassing when you miss the entire monster with it. Takes a lot of getting used to, and learning how to combo each move into the next while positioning correctly can take time. Between this and working on your guard point counters that require some rather specific timing sometimes, it's a hell of a weapon to master. If you want an easy time, try something else first then move onto this if it intrigues you. Diablos Charge Blade was, for the main game, The Thing You Wanted. Highest base damage and no element meant you could buff it a lot in a way that was more effective for your big fully-charged super-ultra splash attack. Onto some weapons I didn't really use properly/myself, so can't be so specific about : INSECT GLAIVE is a complicated weapon with quick sweeping attacks, a ranged element that can be used to gain buffs in combat when you target numerous specific areas on each monster, and the ability to be annoying as piss by perpetually chaining aerial attacks that will keep you off the ground and in the monster's face for the duration of a battle. You'll dive, dash and flit around keeping away from all the monster's more painful bits and find it easy to take the fight to any dumb winged arsehole who stays two feet off the ground at all times. I never used this myself but my flatmate took to it immediately and never even tried anything else. I couldn't recommend any of these myself as he built just about all of them to mix and match weaknesses in the early game. LONGSWORD is like the default "I want to be an anime" weapon, even though other weapons have a huge helping of anime weirdness to them you just can't out-weeaboo a fifteen-foot katana. It's popular, quick, kinda stylish (but like every weapon, suffers from its many copy-paste designs), does a fair amount of damage, has some kind of parry/counter mechanic that I didn't get working in the few hunts I used it for, but its biggest deal is its huge melee range. It's great for hitting things like wings, heads and other high breakable parts on large monsters. The downside is you actually want to be careful with this one, as if you're just flailing at the enemy in a multiplayer hunt you'll find that your attacks also end up knocking your teammates down and interrupting the things they're trying to do which is incredibly frustrating. There are skills that will counteract this effect too, allowing you to just go for it and be as in the way as humanly possible while only hitting the monster. HAMMER is good for smashing things, breaking parts, and knocking monsters down on their arse. Can be slow, but packs a hell of a punch and can do a lot of stun damage. Similar to the Longsword, it didn't really hold my interest in the few hunts I used it either, but if you want to smash the poo poo out of a monster I think the Hammer might be your first and second choice. I've seen a lot of them and they were very effective, it just isn't for me. HUNTING HORN. Okay so this one is one I'm going to have to tell you to avoid. Not because it's bad. If you know how to use it this thing can be brilliant, but learning how to use it is a whoooole thing. It's like an enchanted support hammer, your attack chains build short combos, and then you end the combo by playing a song that gives some kind of buff to you and your team. Each button input corresponds to a type of hit, but also a type of note, each of which varies depending on the specific Hunting Horn you use. Different combinations of notes will give you different buffs when you end the combo, which means each horn has certain buffs it can cast that may or may not end up being useful in certain fights. So you're going to not only want to know what patterns give you what combos, but what buffs your weapon will be capable of and how effective they'll be in a given fight. If you want to learn this weapon, please, do so, but accept that it's going to take some time to get into it, and you have to think about a lot more about your weapon than just what damage type it is, what numbers it does and what sharpness it has. If I haven't mentioned it, it's not because the weapon sucks, just that I never gave it enough or a chance or it just didn't appeal to me (Neither of the Lances were something I was interested in after I'd had my fill of shields) so don't think I'm dismissing them. Every weapon in this game is definitely viable and I've seen some great players using all (Hunting Horn mains are super rare but they can happen, alternately the two Bowguns are hugely effective if you know what you're doing with them but tracking all those ammo types was too much inventory management for me), so if something takes your fancy I think you should give it a try in the training area (accessed from your housecat) and then if you really want to learn how to use that thing there are some great tutorials on all of them, look up Arrekz's guides to each as he gives you all the key moves and combos that will make your particular weapon type work to its fullest.
