there's an email from turbosquid which i guess i am on the mailing list for which says this:quote:Some good news is that our partners in China tell us that life is pretty much back to normal. Everyone wears masks at work, and you can eat-in at restaurants. That was after a 2-month lockdown with an extremely effective and powerful central government that has little friction in getting what they need done. is that actually true? i thought china was under lockdown conditions and that was the reason they have very few new cases. i mean this email seems pretty pro-chinese government, but i can't find a simple answer to what the current situation is in china just googling.

Just 12 hours in there, but drat there's so many people and we're running out of soap and every other casino is closing but for some reason our gaming commission and our tribal business committee think we're the special casino that doesn't have to close. It's probably easy for them to make that decision because they work away from the actual casinos. Casinos are loving disgusting even when there isn't a pandemic. I live ten minutes from two huge casinos, everyone at dinner sunday was very proud of there being no cases in this part of the state. Those things are virus time bombs, when there is a case they will absolutely track it back to one or the other. The good news is that both "voluntarily" shut down for the next two weeks.

I went for a jog/walk today at lunch since I'm working from home and it was very strange seeing people step off the sidewalk when I got close. After the first person I started doing the same. Fun part was way more people say hi as both of us circle around one another staying 6+ feet apart. Generally this town is full of pricks.

You know for all the states in America that have the corona virus, the only state that doesn't have corona virus is West Virginia. Which means the only state that will have boomers is West Virginia.

West Virginia likely does actually, it has one of the poorest populations in the country, its mostly rural, and is primarily old people. It's just that the state is so poor that reporting and testing are non-existent.

My wife works in a negative pressure lab off of the surgical area of our hospital, so it is like a wind tunnel when they open the sliding window to drop off specimens at the lab window for processing. Also, my daughter's preschool does not fall into the Ohio Department of Education rules, so she is still going to school. We are both considered essential employees, so we don't have much place else to lean for childcare. RIP us! I already warned my boss that if my daughter's school shutters its doors, that I am working from home. I will drop my 30 days off of PTO if needed.

Unpopular opinion - this will fizzle out regardless if drastic quarantine measures are taken or not because the infection rate is actually much, much higher than reported but the death rate is accurate, making this less deadly than models state. Please tell me what a moron I am for literally wishing death on people by saying these words out loud, shower me in graphs, etc. I know I'm going against the grain but this happens every single year. For every single infectious disease. There's charts and graphs from scientists that show why this one is the big one and it just never happens. It's already petering out in China of all places. American deaths won't reach six figures and I'll to it (USER WAS PUT ON PROBATION FOR THIS POST)

Yeah, it's a lot of terribly bad consequences. Worldwide economic depression of an unprecedented scale, a large proportion of businesses from several different industries will disappear, hundreds of millions worldwide without income for [who knows how long]. Oh, and lots of people who are alive right now will be dead by this summer because of this. Geopolitical lines will be redrawn over this. Also, Trump is still president of the United States. I guess the point is poo poo's bad right now. e: Silver lining is Biden is going completely senile and primaries are getting delayed. Can I still have some hope for a Sanders nomination?

Well poo poo. My apartment complex just sent out an email saying they were closing all the laundry rooms starting Friday at the end of business. I have enough work clothes to last a week and some change, but if they don't let us work from home after that I get to start doing laundry in my bathtub. I didn't even think that would be a problem since there's one laundry room for every four units. It's not like we're all crowding in one big one.

Switzerland is sort of botching this. The Federal government had a press conference and shut businesses and stuff. And have really tried to emphasize "stay home" but are in no way enforcing it. The total number of cases is unknown because they rely on the cantons to report. There are like 3 different official tallies. It is astounding how many old people are out and about. This country certainly has a "meh I'll be fine attitude" which otherwise gives confidence but couple with "well I've got to live my life" means just a slow reaction to this thing.

Apparently my company will be offering paid sick leave for work impacted by coronavirus, including caring for a family member or any lack of work caused by facilities closing. This is separate from and will not impact our existing PTO balance. Almost seems too good to be true.
