That sounds unbelievably dumb.

We're going to minimize that and at least make the live in a hotel for 3 weeks be on US soil.

It's easier & faster to do it this way. Millionaires are such a small percent of the population that it doesn't change the numbers much, and if you start to put income caps in place and don't account for "how do I calculate income to make sure I'm not excluding someone who had a high income on last report but lost their job or went bankrupt etc + all edge cases" you sign up for a weird logistical hurdle that limits the effectiveness of both designing and implementing a thing, and slows it all down, and conversely makes it more expensive.

Like my income is p good but I ended a contract just as everyone was going into hiding so I technically didn't lose my job to coronavirus but if this goes on for 2 years or whatever I will absolutely need money.

My flight from MSP to YVR yesterday had 20 people on a 747. Didn't bother with boarding priority, got all the free snacks, liquor was not free.

The airlines are probably going to cease operations entirely by Friday, anyone not coming home today is loving insane.

It takes like 3 weeks to die with treatment, thats part of the problem. "RIP your eyes" is after years, they use it for malaria and chronic conditions so people eat it for decades. Eye damage is 7.5% at 5 years and 20% at 20 years worst case from what I googled up.

Yeah it's a powerfully bad thing in those quantities, it's basically Chemo for Malaria. If that's the best we can come up with (and it is, we're not getting a vaccine anytime soon) we're hosed.

This, and depending on how much stimulus they end up deciding on, it may get "paid back" via tax filing in 2021 based on 2020 income. So those that need it keep it, and those above say $150k or whatever get a 1 year no interest loan.

Those that get stuck away from home if the shutdown occurs should get no sympathy at this point. You have to be completely oblivious to not recognize the knock on effects to the airlines.

I just hope it’s done in a somewhat controlled manner as opposed to the 9/11 “ground stop everything”.

that the virus originated in China is beyond any reasonable doubt and pretending otherwise is irresponsible and ridiculous

what the US should have done but didn't is test thoroughly, and we didn't do that because Trump wanted the numbers to stay low. that's it. it's all public knowledge and publicly stated by Trump himself. any deflections of blame or responsibility he tries to make are pathetic and nauseating based on these grounds alone
