This is probably their heaviest record ever, and the sound wanders between tune low play slow and hardcore riffs with two step and there are so many wild breakdowns. been jamming this today, track 3 "Skin Your Teeth" is a standout banger https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxqZRl3WQOw got some great solo work, audible bass, and vocals that remind me of someone specific but i can't quite put my finger on it.

new ABR tape is out, I like it a lot more than Phantom Anthem. Has an older ABR vibe to it that I like a lot, some songs are really heavy. It's ABR, you like it you don't, but you know what you're getting. Metalcore AC/DC

For lack of a better word, the vocals on the new ABR sound strained to me It's definitely more ABR, had no idea they even had a new one on the radar. The intro to Empty Heaven is really groovy, probably my favorite moment upon a first listen ABR I always listen to their new material a few times when it comes out and then.. I forget about them until their next one comes out. Never seems to have much staying power for me

The new Code Orange is ridiculously good. The music videos help a great deal in getting into it, too. Feel like a teenager getting into NIN for the first time all over again. It's gonna be a weird childhood-adulthood dream come true if I get to see them with Slipknot and Underoath in June.

The music videos help a great deal in getting into it, too. idk about "ridiculously" but i agree that the music videos and visual aesthetic they've adopted has really helped me digest their newer style a bunch. i even watched that cringe as gently caress twitch concert they did and it looks like they NIN-ified songs from I Am King which kinda stings but at least they're trying to stay consistent. oddly enough, after playing Doom '16 and Eternal i started to realize that i appreciate their new direction that much more. it's basically angsty video game techno-metal
