I did start the day by getting immediately stung by shaking one tree and then went on to do my store opening ceremony looking, well, not my best. LODGE NORTH posted:Is it bad etiquette to just crash someone's island because the door were open? It probably is. I'm horrible... It's only bad etiquette if you take stuff without asking, including fruit on trees. I usually have my gate open just so anyone can stop by and I usually offer whatever extra fruits I have in case they need them. Don't take it for granted that stuff laying around on the ground is available for you to take unless you know for sure. I have a huge pile of stuff for the museum, comically sized at this point, and I surrounded it with signs asking people not to take it because sometimes convention is that anything laying around is fair game, or at least it was in New Leaf. It's best to just ask unless you saw a post in the thread about a specific island. tl;dr: not bad form to join random goon islands, they wouldn't open it up if they didn't want visitors. It is bad form to take stuff without asking.

It's the worst when you have what looks to be a rare fish and then oops it's gone because of that. Once I had a fish on the actual line and lost it due to an animation. The "arriving" animation in particular is rather obnoxious. Still though, I usually have my gates open and am happy to have visitors, even if we don't really interact because typing sucks.

One reasonably decent option though, they added both text & voice chat in the Nintendo Online app. Typing there is far from perfect but way better than the onscreen keyboard if you're not quite ready to jump into voice chat with online folks.

I'll have to look at that. I don't mind voice chat except I can't be hosed to wear a headset when I'm playing switch games so I'd just be using speakerphone or some poo poo which would probably drive everyone nuts. Maybe someone can test it with me tomorrow and it won't be as bad as all that

my assumption is they went overboard trying to stamp out desync errors and duping glitches and we ended up with this poo poo. It wouldn't be a Nintendo first party game without some horribly archaic multiplayer issue that has been solved by every other developer for the past decade.

I'm new to the series (well, I played a bit of the Wii version years ago... It didn't end well, was a whole thing), so forgive me if this is a question with an obvious answer. While running around my island at night, occasionally I'll hear a faint twinkling sound, and I have yet to figure out why. I try digging or shaking trees nearby, nothing happens, and I can't see anything different about the area. What am I missing? ETA: Ah, never mind. It's falling stars? And pressing A makes them glow. No idea what they do, but at least I know where the sound was coming from now. Falstaff fucked around with this message at 03:20 on Mar 22, 2020 |
