Can is not the same as should. There is nothing in my kitchen I love more than my very well seasoned cast iron pan and the idea of taking a soapy scrubby to it is unfathomable. I don't care if it won't strip the seasoning, it's a sign that you're not treating the poor pan right.

With the Democrats running out of campaign talking points in light of no school shootings, no migrant caravans at the southern border, fighting in Syria winding down, North Korea not firing missiles and Trump beating a sham impeachment. The coronavirus gave them one last hail mary to try and point fingers at Trump with the clock winding down in 2020.

This is almost the perfect fascist playbook. Control the population with fear-mongering and panic, control the media, spread propaganda and the fan-favorite disarm the population.

Sorry but I don't think we are all going to die. Remember when Ebola was what was going to kill us all, and the media kept showing the piles of body bags that were prepared for the fallout. Then a month later it was totally forgotten.

The common flu has killed more people this year already and the media is SILENT!

A handful of deaths out of 320 million Americans and we are in panic tearing down our society and costing our economy billions in the wake. It all just seems fishy, a little too well-timed if you ask me.

From my family in Pennsylvania who are currently SUPER happy their state is in lockdown.

I'm getting a wrought iron pan soon, I'll post my thoughts after it gets here. It's supposed to combine the longevity of cast iron with the lightweight of other metals.

I feel like half of these very dumb "cast iron is gross" hot takes rely on somebody misunderstanding that the word "seasoning" with regard to cast iron refers to "seasoned" as in "experience," and not as in "flavor." It's a euphemism.

Anyone that has an issue with cast iron on sanitary grounds should also be consistent and also decry most modern grilling where the cooking surfaces are maintained in very similar ways to cast iron.

It's really not that hard. You rinse the pan and scrape it down lovingly with steel wool. You heat it back up to a high temperature to disinfect, and then then wipe it down liberally with wet towels. Depending on the situation you apply an extra very thin layer of oil before storing. Rinse and heat again next time you use it. It's just a grill surface you use on your stovetop rather than in an outdoor grill.

Same but carbon steel, supposedly almost as lightweight as stainless, as easy to clean as nonstick, and as durable, heat tolerant, and seasonable as cast iron, but we shall see. Not sure how it compares to wrought iron though.

They've been doing that crap for a while. Goes back to the 80's. Somebody decided that it wasn't calories in calories out but rather eating fat that made you fat.
