Twitter links work for me, but the mirrored links are really nice for when Twitter suspends accounts, etc. I think the twitter link plus embedded mirror images is a nice middle ground of providing a source, and helping people on mobile and/or people from the future who may be browsing when a twitter post is no longer available. Since this is only a problem in the app, ask the app devs if they can extract an image link from any twitter link if it exists and just show it in the app under the link?

Every time I try to look at Twitter on my phone, it tells me it can't display tweets because I'm "rate limited." I'm not, and it happens on wifi, too. As a result, I just skip past Twitter links.
