I mean yes, obviously, the Covid = angel thing is :stare:.

Just saying I'm not so sure it's quite as death-culty as appears. (Not quite being the operative in that statement... still pretty death-culty, just not as much).

I mean, Mormons are pretty much a death cult based on Jesus fanfiction.

It depends. The early Church interpreted it as Jesus riding each of the horses in turn to devastate the Earth. There are some interpretations that claim they are four of Archangels. And you can get into wacky new age poo poo that says they are aliens.

So I'm not sure where this should actually go, but how are companies proving they're essential so that employees that have to commute through curfew areas have something to show the police if they get pulled over for violating curfew?

Or is it just "Print off the email where the company claims this and hand it to the cop if you get pulled over"?

I just work for a company that calls itself essential because we supply parts to pulp/paper plants. I guess I'll print the email and put it in the visor in my car.

My megacorp sent out a letter from company counsel that cites the DC order by number and references where in it my job is defined as essential and the address of my work site. I imagine the letterhead is all I'd need but it also includes contact info where someone could confirm it all with corporate.

I called my local police station for guidance because the front plate on one of my cars was lost after a minor collision in Philadelphia (NJ has front & rear plates) and the only way to get duplicate/new plates is to go in person to the DMV - which of course is closed for the duration.

Desk sergeant said that no one is looking at that right now & not to be concerned about the missing plate.

Anecdote 2: my son's SO (who was driving the car at the time it was involved in the accident) talked to the responding Phila. patrolman about COVID response; he said that they have been instructed to put no one in the back of their cruisers, and get ID if possible on perps for later pick-up. Obviously I can't see this being the case for A&B felony situations but who knows.

About half of my 65 mile commute goes through rural areas that have curfews in place right now and really enthusiastic Barney Fife types that will pull you over for going 36mph in a 35mph zone (literally had that happen back in 2004).

I have to be at work by 6AM, so I'm violating those curfews every day.

Yep, mine did that too, and included that the site is open 24/7 so I may need access at any time. Only one county near me even has a curfew, and I have my ID for the ambulance service that’s over in that county, so I’m set for the time being curfew wise.

My company gave everyone a copy of a letter with the Dpt. of Homeland Security letterhead on top defining my company as essential. I was told that + my work ID would be enough. It's from the CISA and is all officially and important, except scanned a thousand times over until it's all sad and pathetic looking.

A NYPD precinct just bragged about towing a bunch of truck trailers because they were illegally parked in a residential area. Because the truckers had to rest while they were working to deliver food to NYC grocery stores and such.

Then they deleted the tweet because their heroic effort of public safety and service was not well-received by that public.

I have a client that's a bank, they have 2 CPD officers that work as security during off-hours, one of them told me he straight up isn't pulling people over for running stop signs/red lights provided they aren't being super dangerous about it; I took that to mean folks going like 60 through/straight up not braking/peds being present etc.

No one has caught on here yet apparently because people are mostly obeying the laws.

My wife has a letter from her GM printed out which cites the governor order, the place she works which is listed as essential, and because it's 24/7, a writ of permission to be out any time. Signed with a real signature and contact information of the GM.
