A month is a fairly long time to a lot of people, eggs are cheap, they're very nutritious, and you can freeze them to keep far longer. They're also great for tossing into other hardship foods like plain soups, rice, or ramen to add flavor, protein, and other nutrients.

Eggs can last as long as two months if you're really careful about keeping them fully refrigerated But even at one month that's like four times longer than fresh meat and fills similar dietary needs.
