I was playing NL till this came out and I would say that NH is way more addicting. I end up sketching future ideas about how my island would look like after terraforming and moving houses and shops outside of the game. I'm way more into decorating the island than my home at this point.

Apparently we barely know how they swim and have seen so few of them live in the wild that Jeremy Wade has a special mention as being the only person to interact with one on camera in those circumstances. The ocean is crazy and full of actual aliens and this game still manages to be delightful about it.

Is there a way to find out what are good gifts for villagers? I give stuff but keep getting back a random small amount of bells. It's kind of insulting, I'd rather nothing than 345 bells, little fella. Is it a random thing or do certain gifts actually get you something equivalent in return? I've been giving my villagers fish, bugs, fruit, and random furniture I built because I saw the gift prompt and made whatever I had the resources for. I usually get furniture/clothes back.

Major but easily avoidable glitch alert: https://www.belltreeforums.com/showthread.php?480956-PSA-Do-NOT-adopt-villagers-if-they-were-forced-out-via-Amiibo tl;dr: don't go to someone else's island and try to get someone getting forced out via the campsite (apparently amiibo doesn't have anything to do with it) to come to your island, it'll gently caress up your save and the reserved spot will be reserved forever.
