The initial reaction to it from the epidemiologists is that it's not useful / waste of time and resources to enforce at this point. While CDC is under questionable leadership, their overall activity and actions are still quite useful and needed. If they are more actively carrying water for the administration that places their public announcements / interaction much more in question meaning that we don't really have an uncompromised federal voice for the pandemic any longer. Hopefully CDC provides a valid answer to this quickly but we (scientific community) are really worried about this one.

It’s because Trump was blathering about quarantining NY, NJ and CT, taking the CDC and the (Democratic) governor’s office those three states by surprise. I hope that, whenever DeSantis goes, the number of dead Floridians he took down with him is engraved on his tombstone, as prominently as possible.
