We had a miscarriage as well before we had our son. It does come up, but my wife found a lot of friends to talk to. It's a super common sad thing that people rarely talk about, though it did help us.

That man's name? John Connors. (Yes, the Traveller activist, not the fictional character John Connor. Just so happens he's a big fan of T2)

Don Conroy has started his own YouTube channel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CRFX5zUdbk It's weird seeing him after all these years and him not having aged (much). I remember him visiting my school when I was a really young. Didn't get to see him properly, but found myself doodling and sketching so maybe that helped a bit.

I ran into him a few times on Dollymount strand back when I was young enough to go there with my parents regularly. He was always incredibly nice.

Don Conroy premiered a video this morning of him drawing a barn owl. These are really calming videos in such weird times. Also I had a mild heart attack when he started using water colour near marker...

I'm hoping for one of those trashy "police action footage" arrest porn shows with the overly dramatic narrator, but it's the Garda flying their helicopter to get some sunbathers off the beach.

It's scary how many people have no cop-on or seemingly just don't give a poo poo.

The cops broke up a party of 30 kids in my local park the other night. They were only discovered because they set a bonfire. Kids don't give a poo poo.

Their parents obviously don't either. Like, I don't give a poo poo about them, I give a poo poo about the people they may pass the virus on to, or the hospital staff who have to deal with them.

Today's fun quarantine challenge appears to be "Find the Bottleneck" - you play by finding the only unavoidable narrow space for miles around and then stand there having a nice aul chat with your friends right across the width of it.

A lady in Tesco yesterday was very upset with me because I stopped waiting for her very important sweets crisis to grab something next to her. She was literally doing "Ketchup? Catsup?" with White and Milk Chocolate buttons. I was a lot more worried about it a few weeks ago because I was really afraid I'd bring it into the shop and give a customer or my boss it or obviously get it myself and force the shop to close way ahead of time. But now I'm just too impatient to be nice for the kind of person who's dragged their entire family out for a walk and is now talking 6 feet away from someone else's entire family on the only piece of pavement havin a good aul chat in 0 protective gear

Foul Ole Ron posted:Apparently they are rating old people in the UK and ones who don't make the cut, don't get treated if you get the Roni. Thats happening anywhere the need for resources outstrips supply - Lombardy etc. It is slightly horrifying emotionally, but its also entirely reasonable/logical - if two people need a ventilator and one of them is an otherwise healthy 60 year old, the other an 84 year old with an underlying health condition, you have to give it to the person who'll get the most life years out of living. Its basically just a outcome based variant of triage, a system thats used in every ER/A&E room across the globe. The system for ranking people's priority has to be codified/written down, because that way medics on the front line can just refer to it and instantly have the choice made for them - instead of having the 'power' in their hands, and all the emotional damage that would result for them.

And the fact that it all stems from their government going "Lol RIP I guess" in February makes it even worse In early March, when poo poo was just getting real, I flew from Gatwick to Dublin and back and the difference in attitude was really stark - in Gatwick you wouldn't know anything was going on, there was one sign outside the toilets saying 'wash your hands for twenty seconds' and the occasional coronavirus notice in the rotating ad screens. In Dublin there were warning notices on absolutely every surface, multiple hand sanitiser stations, detailed hand-washing instructions above every sink and a staffed coronavirus information desk in Arrivals. It was pretty drat clear which country was taking it seriously.

However the number of Jewish people in the UK as of the 2011 census was around 260,000 +. The number of Irish Jews from the 2016 census is about 2,600. So 1% of the British numbers . Basically there is such a small number of Jewish people in Ireland and they dont seem to have a powerful lobby, that I dont think a report on anti-semitism is a high priority.
