Whooping Crabs posted:The DNC may cut New York's delegates by half for having their primary after June 9th. the article also says that the DNC could consider Bernie releasing a podcast to be in violation of their rules against campaigning in NY, because podcasts are reachable by everybody, including NY residents. This is of course completely different than Biden appearing on MSNBC to give interviews - which NY residents can also see - because

Donald Trump remains unbelievably, viscerally awful and yet on a purely objective just-the-facts level, Joe Biden is somehow worse Like Trump’s mind is dying in real time but 4 years ago he could still seem coherent. Biden would be sworn in already having a Swiss cheese brain. Trump has no public office experience but Biden’s history of horrible destructive policy with his name on it isn’t better. god, even Trump’s biggest pre-office controversy, the “grab them by the pussy” thing was merely him bragging about something that Biden has allegedly actually done

Oh I'm sure Trump has done equally awful things. Neither one of them is better than the other imo. Trump (I think) knows what he's doing and why, and Biden convinces himself that the lovely things that he does are for the good of the people, so two bad people on opposite sides of the same evil coin I think It's just really easy to be extra mad at someone who is awful but thinks that they're doing the right thing. It's like they take the morally good end of the spectrum and drag it toward the reprehensibly evil side of the spectrum so that the can view themselves as the good guys, while being reprehensibly evil

I don’t think Biden is any worse than Trump in that regard. They’re both horrendous and we should clearly not nominate Biden.

My point is just that the fact that the two likely GE candidates are rapists is inevitably going to hurt the Dems more than the GOP. And of course Neera and Perez and the rest of them know that, but the goal for them isn’t to win anyway.

Not sure about that specifically, but I think the underlying message is that any system wherein the ballot system for the election process isn't specified in the constitution and where there isn't some form of preferential voting system, will inevitably polarize severely, possibly beyond repair.

Sydin posted:the article also says that the DNC could consider Bernie releasing a podcast to be in violation of their rules against campaigning in NY, because podcasts are reachable by everybody, including NY residents. quote:And the rules also say any candidate campaigning in a state with a contest outside of the DNC’s designated primary calendar will not be awarded any delegates from that state. Sen. Bernie Sanders and former Vice President Joe Biden, the last two candidates in the primary race, aren’t physically campaigning in New York (or any other state), but the DNC defines “campaigning” broadly as being inclusive of but “not limited to”: quote:The DNC further notes its Rules and Bylaws Committee can add to this list and has final say over whether a campaign’s activities are in violation of this rule. That means that although, for instance, podcasting isn’t included in this list, Biden’s new podcast could perhaps be seen as being in violation of this rule, given it is distributed nationwide, including to New York, Louisiana, and Kentucky — all states that now have post-June 9 primaries. also, on a more positive note, quote:In a Sunday USA Today op-ed by Perez and six other Democratic Party leaders, the party expounded upon this point, arguing that states should simply expand their voting periods to at least 20 days before elections — and their voting hours — to allow voters to cast ballots in socially distant ways. This would not solve the problem Cuomo cited as his primary concern: that voters risk exposure by coming into contact with high-touch surfaces such as ballot pens and the handles of polling place doors.
