I'd feel vindicated and smug but I'm just happy that enough people are finally taking it seriously enough to start lowering my chances of roni death. I look just like this but I'm also wearing a full Tyvek suit, no sign, uh, and I'm handsomer. I ride around like that on a Mad Max style electric fat bike so people really know I'm not loving around.

Over here in Finland our government was doing victory laps because we've got a stockpile of emergency equipment (PPE masks etc) that were being handed out to healthcare professionals. Unlike "SOME" countries we've got plentiful supplies and they're not in danger of running out. Except loving WHOOPS that stockpile has been sitting unused for so long that most of it is way past its "use by" date, in some cases by 8+ years. The people responsible for maintaining said stockpile said they're testing sample units from each batch before sending it out, and even though the manufacturers of the masks say they should no longer be used, our government says it's fine. Oh you got a mask with a rubber band so worn out it can no longer form a seal against your face? Well tie some knots on that rubber band, use common sense! Again, literally their words. https://yle.fi/uutiset/3-11286164 Apparently "six planeloads" of new protective equipment have already been ordered, but considering Finland probably aren't the only people trying to order poo poo, I wouldn't hold my breath. Except I guess that's what our medical personnel will literally have to start doing, as the government begins to ration out protective equipment. How could this happen? Well our loving austerity-horny government laid off a ton of people from the very agencies that are now critically needed to research and handle the epidemic. WHOOPS!

You can't plan for a emergency that only happens once in a generation and require large quantities of stocks. You can plan for rare emergencies that are kind of cheap to prepare ( seed banks in the artic ) but asking for services to be ready for everyone getting ill at the same time is not. The next thing you do is what you criticed. How fast you can pull your pants up.

Fifty‐cent masks are the nail for want of which the kingdom is lost. Long after we are all dead, historians will make and refine models of what could have been, how many millions of lives and trillions of dollars this crisis might have been softened by, if only we had not neglected this one humble commodity. It is not a panacea, but it is a thumb on the scale. With the stakes involved and the nature of exponential growth, it is a heavy thumb. Trump balking at a billion dollars in ventilators will make the history books, but imagine what could be done with two billion masks.

Here's a great video that was uploaded a few weeks ago by a Japanese business man living in Nanjing, China and the measures that are in place to curtail the spread of infection. My theory still stands - China is not intentionally falsifying their numbers but rather taking extreme and calculated measures to curb the spread. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YfsdJGj3-jM

Masks ordered in China by France are repurchased by Americans for 2-3 times the price, directly on the runway. The planes are then re-routed to the US instead of France Why am I not surprised https://www.lalibre.be/internationa...b50a6162bf70db2

life is now: checking every grocery delivery service...nope nothing ever trying to file for unemployment...nope site crashes constantly/phone lines always busy no matter when you call lots and lots of sirens trying to figure it out on a day by day. (like getting a grocery pickup order thats available in 5 days and then hiring a outside third party service to pickup/dropoff that instead of an all in one) i'm in the hotzone (brooklyn) in the state with the most cases (ny) in the country with the most infections (usa) sooooo trying not to die, nbd really hoping that the lovely leadership in my country feels repercussions directly, be it elections or just straight up prosecutions, and china feels them globally when this is all said and done anytime i think about those senators that dumped stock in jan after a briefing my loving eye starts twitching

So who are you, that you’re this obsessed with China? All governments are bad, US bad, everything bad, but I was curious why someone would be so obviously believing of Chinese propaganda, and like every post you’ve made in this thread is about how blameless and good the Chinese government is. Pull back the curtain for a minute. What skin do you have in this game? Be real with your SA friends. Why are you so doggedly trying to cheerlead for China?

Yeah but that's the thing: we did. We had planned for something like this to happen, and had been stockpiling supplies and equipment for years. Only for some bureaucratic nightmare reason nobody bothered to make sure those massive stockpiles would actually keep and to freshen them up periodically. Finland are also stockpiling military equipment in case our neighbours to the east get a sudden desire for more zhiloye prostranstvo again, but that is kept up to date. For instance our field artillery shoot probably more live rounds during military training than anyone else, because our massive stockpiles of shells are fired off before they expire, and then get replaced. But for some reason nobody bothered to make sure the protective equipment stored for a medical crisis was kept working.

Your hypothesis rests on self submitted youtube videos that are allowed to get beyond the Great Firewall. Meanwhile there are decades of evidence of suppression of information on a huge array of matters of state within China. Exceptional claims require exceptional evidence.
