Does anyone have that gif of a casualty on a backboard loaded into the back of a pickup truck with the tailgate left down, and the truck starts driving and everyone receives a quick lesson in physics?

Edit: Never mind, I solved it. If you're having this problem (with chrome anyway) go into your cookies and delete all twitter cookies, this fixes it.

It's two separate photos. The photo on the right was probably taken before the accident.

At the University of Pittsburgh there's a sculpture called Skyscape hanging from the ceiling of Posvar Hall (they may have renamed it in the 20 years since I've been there). I never liked walking under it, it was right around the time that the Final Destination movies were becoming popular.

We used to refer to it as the mobile of death.

We're all going to experience changes in our life but only the best of us will qualify for front row seats.

The movie Knives Out features a sculpture made of knives and it’s not surprising that it ends up being a Chekhov’s knife... er, gun.

That whole chain email drives me nuts. “Oh, look at how much better a common sense simple solution is!” You know, the one that’s gonna generate a ton of wood shavings and graphite dust in a high oxygen atmosphere loaded with electrical circuits.

It's especially dumb because both the US and Russia used grease pencils until the Fisher pen guy invented a space pen and sold it to both, or at least he tried to sell it to Russia.

Australian comedian Tony Martin famously doesn't display a number of his award statues because they're basically golden spikes and he doesn't want to die by falling on one and have every hack reporter do a 'hoist on his own petard' headline.

For extra comedy, he had a decent idea and gave up way too quickly to screw around instead. He could have implemented a NOT gate to make it work as intended with the added benefit of separating the sensing circuit from the buzzer circuit and allow for finer tuning of each individual circuit's performance. Had he stuck with the concept, he could have had a Hackaday article at worst. Instead, we have this.

And that is why you don't let an astrophysicist perform an engineer's job.

Oh, he still got his HackADay article:

Why are there two dudes in that boat? What's the second guy do, take over if the first guy flies out?

The second guy helps to push at the start to add speed, and his added mass helps to make it go faster on the downhills.

Animals is probably the best prog rock album that exists.

Considering that prog rock is middle-class white-boy whinging, it's perfect for that.
