It's a great articles. Also: Boyd Rice, who is known as a sinister “social Darwinist” to industrial music fans and as an “unemployed, alcoholic fascist” to his ex-wife hahahahaha

I don't know if it was one of the fash gigs mentioned in the article, but I remember that someone I knew went to a Slimelight gig years ago that had anti-fascist protestors outside, and the bouncers were telling punters to turn their jackets inside out when they left if they had any dubious insignia on them. The guy I knew was of course outraged by this and somehow thought he wasn't in the wrong for going to see bands like that, and it's like come on, this is some pretty basic stuff. If you're wearing something that is going to get you in trouble with anti-fascists, you are (almost certainly) the problem here.

Funker Vogt has a new EP (whatever that means these days) out. And I love it. I know I shouldn’t but I can’t help myself. When it comes to insanely stupid untz, untz music Funker Vogt have perfected the formula. It’s pretty much Scooter with a few industrial touches at this point but I’m not ashamed to say that I dig that.

Calling this a Skinny Puppy side project is a bit of a stretch, putting it mildly. None of the band members are in SP and the only connection appears to be that this is a “Download” mix. What that actually means is unclear; hiwatt is listed on the YouTube credits but were cEvin or Phil involved?

Supposedly Sarah McLachlan signed her record contract on SP's tour bus and got into animal rights through them when they were both on Nettwerk. Then there's the whole rumor about Jeffrey Dahmer supposedly picking up one of his victims at an SP show. There are some weird SP factoids...

That was very 90's, and quite cyberpunky. Sounds like something from the Hackers soundtrack. I know Gillian Anderson was the "believer" of the two X-Files stars, but this is surprisingly cool for her.

She was signed by that guy from Moev, so not sure how connected she was to Puppy other than the "six degrees .." thing from her work with Delerium. I'm surprised no one has taken on the possibly Herculean task of substantiating that Puppy show rumor.

About a year ago or so one of my buddies played And One - panzermensch and I've been completely hooked on And One's music ever since, easily my top favourite band of all time, however I find that quite a few of their songs aren't on Spotify, including the magnet album and it's other companions in the 3 album set. Also a huge fan of Die Krupps, and their EP als wären wir für immer, which is easily my top EP from them isn't on either. Would any of my fellow goons know why that is, and at least point me in the direction to where I can purchase these pieces, I'd hate to keep listening to them on YouTube without these amazing artists not getting a cut for their awesome music.

extradite THIS! posted:Steve’s been posting and deleting a bunch of conspiracy garbage lately (last month-ish), unfortunately. Embarrassing poo poo This is my first experience as far as I can remember where I am questioning whether to stop listening to a band due to their beliefs. I am typically ignorant of that stuff, I don't bother reading lots of interviews, and it helps that lyrics are often abstract enough (and mangled with Google Translate) that I'd never get a sense of something being "off" (plus And One's lyrics never make sense). I'm getting all philosophical now, because there are "lines" that, when crossed, would make you want to drop a band, but where is that line? Right-leaning is not in and of itself enough, I'm mostly centrist/left-leaning, but Q is a ball of nuts that caused actual trouble and feels way over that line. Now I want to remain purposely ignorant of this for other bands I like. Note that this is in regards to bands which normally don't make it an issue in their music so it's a surprise that probably would never have come up without stupid social media. And there are a lot of terrible far-right bands which make their feelings quite clear and I'd avoid them right away. I just don't want to have to question everything now, lyrics are often too ambiguous, or a band is only trolling/being theatrical (think: Christians who listen to Ghost). Sorry to derail a little with this, but it's actually relevant, we're dealing with a lot of European bands which don't sing in English (and are mostly German), and the genre is often accused of being full of a bunch of Nazis by default for that. I've had to explain more than once to people that Rammstein aren't. This just surprised me so much that I've been thinking about it all day.
