Yooper posted:Once we've got the last plan in we'll start the voting. If all goes well we'll aim to run by the end of the weekend. Thanks you for the shout out, but I'm actually dealing with some (thankfully non corona) sickness, and its getting in the way of being able to finalize plans, like when I look at maps and things. If I can give you a mainly-text game plan and that's good enough, I can go ahead?

Thanks, and sorry about the delay. its become the mission name! Here's what i have. -- Operation Sick Leave: Mine was basically going to be a variation of bait and switch with two flights of mixed eagles and flankers (3x 2 of the limited ARM + archer; 1 4x 500lb bomb, 4 kh-59's) -- First off, shout out to power crystals for helping me with loadouts and showing me how some of this stuff works THe limited munitions basically shape the engagement loadouts, as the eagles carry 2 amraams each, and the fencers have 2 archers in any loadout unless they have bombs. this leaves us with 9 amraams to spare, and 3 sead fencers unless we want to have an empty pylon, which I don't wanna. First off, a few things we've learned about out craft: The patrollers have a dick of a time spotting things at flight ceiling but are very good at tracking things once they spot it. Slow prop planes though. Eagles have really nice air to ground search radar! its surprisingly great, but the Fencers have nearly nonexistant spotting, and so any ground attack runs more or less need a spotter, so an eagle or patroller escorting it. Mission Goals: Pre-launch 2 Patrollers into the AO because they're slow. One high alt, one lower-er altitude. Run two combat air patrols instead of one; as fencers need an eagle to be with them on an attack run. Split group diversion into enemy airspace to provoke air response, then engage with amraams and sparrows. ingress across the boarder should be with sparrow eagles leading, and amraam eagles tailing in a closer formation with emissions off(unless combat starts). Basically, I want to lead contacts to think that its just sparrows an save the amraams for the real second-wave intercept team, but while staying close enough they can outrange the sparrows they're guarding. All aircraft carry at least 2 ir seekrers, and should be able to fight back at close range. First stage will be a long-range Kingbolt (due to the weapon range) (or 60nm glide bomb) strike on the airdef network communications link (depending on wher it is/how far acrossthe border) Confirm Datalink Destroyed with Patroller flyby Fencer with bombs is there to support Zebba, and if he finds anything useful to blow up and help him escape second stage: Anti-radar fencers engage the buk supported by other fencers and an eagle Patroller(s) moves in to survey the area once buk is down and sweep for further threats/air def/ unexploded sam sites A2G setups to take shots at all other anti air sites/worthwhile targets Basically the intent is to not just take out the buk and radars, but actually go after other equipment/launchers, which is why the patrollers are involved. Don't just wreck the radars with arms. a2g runs should be escorted by at least 1-2 eagle at any time, due to ground search radar ability. We have almost too much air to ground ordnance and it should be spent on things that will make follow up missions easier in the area, after primary AD is down, go looking for trouble/secondaries. Sortie Aircraft 2 patrollers - 1 in high altitude(it goes up to 10k or so?), 1 in a lower altitude for spotting passes (5-ish k feet?) 12 eagles 6 sparrow + 2 python (engage at 20nm, fire 2 per contact) 5 amraam +2 python (1 bird is 1 short) 1 8x glide bomb +2 amraam 12 fencers - 3 bird: kh31 ARM + 2 archer - 1 bird: 3x KAB 1500 - the laser guided big bombs, +2 archers. (in case of hardened targets, bunkers, etc) - 7 birds in kh-59 kingbolt + 2 archer - 1 bird with Kazoo + 2 archer instead (the kazoo is due to longer range and higher explosive charge) Rapid Turnaround orders: Eagles: - 6x sparrow eagles rearm - expended amraam's rearm into 4 sparrow 4 python Fencers reload into half half kingbolt and archer + 4x LGBs

In the first round no one entry had 51% of the vote. Sick Leave was in the lead but in the 2nd round all of the votes transferred to Cat Face. We'll get with the flight line and prepare for the mission. My 3d printer is going non-stop to make covid face shields. If I run the mission now you'll hear -bzz-bzz-brrrt-bzzz-baaa-bzzz- in the background. I'll either run it once I'm out of filament or if you guys don't give a gently caress.

"3D printer frantically cranking away in the back corner of the operations room" is very much within the HG aesthetic, I don't care at all

Hey Yooper, a procedural question: When you're doing vote transfers, does the order of our votes matter? I.e. if I vote "plan A and plan C", does that assume I like A more than C? Either way is fine, I'm just wondering. I've always voted like it does but I don't recall this ever being explicitly stated.

power crystals posted:Hey Yooper, a procedural question: When you're doing vote transfers, does the order of our votes matter? I.e. if I vote "plan A and plan C", does that assume I like A more than C? I assume your first choice is your primary. Then if your primary is the minority I drop it from the ranking and re-tally with your secondary. Since I don't want to deal with a true STV heap of votes your vote could be discarded if you didn't vote for any of the remaining majorities. Functionally I think this is good enough as it could be onerous to ask everyone to rank your choices from 1 to 9 or however many missions are inputted. Usually the majority takes it. I think this is the first time all of the transferred votes went to the #2 choice and put it into the lead (above 51%).

oh, okay. I always thought they were weighted equally. I'll vote in this format next time: 1. A 2. B

# ? Apr 7, 2020 19:57 |

Yeah I thought it was equal and you just count all the votes and whoever has the most wins. Ah well, whatever. Hopefully I can catch the whole stream this time.

Operation Cat Face will commence in 48 hours! Flight crews have limited munitions at both air fields. Our hosts are still expanding the facilities so it's been a real challenge. The Eagles will be able to re-arm from AIM-120C to AIM-7M if they require them. Not sure if the mission will run that long, but we'll have it available. So far Squadron Ops things we were able to move in un-detected. I don't think we'll have a surprise like this again in the future. Friday Night, ~ 2000 EST
