Angrymog posted:Charities are loving desperate right now. There was a £5 million pound fund put together for small charities to get up to an up to 10k grant from, and it's all gone. Yup. A lot of charities across the sector are furloughing the large majority of their staff - especially big name ones, whilst many smaller ones will just fold completely. This is going to have a big impact on folks dependent upon the local services they provide. Income from community fundraising and events is going to be absolutely destroyed, with public events a no-no and marathon postponed. Legacies will remain steady, possibly slightly growing over medium term, for obviously morbid reasons. Many are looking at innovative new fundraising approaches - Comic Relief and Children in Need are doing a joint fundraising evening on BBC - first time ever. Others are trying emergency appeals and social media activities. The charity I work for is doing well for now - due to a couple of recent big donations we had a sizeable surplus which we were aiming to heavily draw down this year. This means no furloughs so far, but it's only a matter of time.

There are some promising immunomodulating therapies being worked on right now, and I have to wonder if some of those aren't what trump was thinking about (this doesn't excuse his nonsense btw) as being too complex for the media because they're wayyyyyy too complex for trump to understand.

Now that the big-brained, perfectly dry centrist is in charge, the clamour over antisemitism will lessen up for a bit, but I wouldn't be surprised to hear it trotted out against anyone leaning left. They've proven its effectiveness, so they won't shelve it forever

My guess is that Raab is perhaps unpopular among other members of the cabinet and would cause a bit of friction if he said "I am the captain of this ship" Remembering, of course, that every Tory (particularly those in the cabinet) is wielding a dagger at every moment and waiting for their chance. Just had a catch up with my university. They're offering either for us to defer our course until next April or complete it remotely for the rest of the year. I asked about fees and they were quite insistent that they'd be paid the remaining terms money, which seems like a loving rip off as can't access the library or equipment or anything like that. Any goons point me in the direction of someone I get advice from regarding not paying thousands of pounds for badly organised Zoom meetings?
