50k bells to move a misplaced house/building, several million to finish your house, there's crowns that cost a million bells, 250k for good slopes and bridges, I am going to need a Lot of Money. Then once I've rearranged all of these houses I have to refurbish them.

It's mostly just waiting while you do other stuff, still, I'm not sure I'll bother with another super pricey island unless there's an urgent need for millions of bells that I'm not foreseeing.

Most people are in the creative phase of their islands now, and moving buildings and putting up bridges and inclines costs a lot of bells. Sometimes you don't realize a placement doesn't work until you live with it a couple days and you want to try something else. Having a bunch in the bank lets you play around with design a little easier.
