Am I getting sued, do you think? Are there actually legal grounds for that?

You could always protect your tweets temporarily, or delete the posts where you share the link. I'm assuming they're too incompetent to do an insta-archive of everyone sharing it.

so kier writing a report into who tattled and the left writing a report into how the report that shows things that were bad shows things that were bad seems insufficient to me

The left want the saboteurs to be disciplined; the report would be on the results of that investigation, i.e. proof that something was actually done about this. 2 and 3 are the key demands, 4 is evidence of completion.

I agree with you on the need for a total overhaul. Apart from my constant moans about the absolutely crappy basic 'office admin' side of things, the processes are far too cumbersome for a party of around 500k members - just look at how long the leadership election took! We've had entire general election campaigns that take half as long. The rule book is a mass of bolt-ons on bolt-ons. The 'division of labour' as to who is in charge of what doesn't seem to be precisely defined.

They need a ground up review.

yeah agreed, and they very obviously need accountability, transparency and collaboration at every level

it seems like there was none of that even between major departments of the party

Also the report doesn't exactly make the Corbyn lot look good either, it seems like they were as unable/incompetent at governing the party as they were at threading the needle and campaigning in '19

None of this stuff is very surprising though, it's all poo poo I already assumed or knew.

I really don't buy the "just organise" / "just go mean/violent" retreat from electoralism fantasia either...

Name / avatar / post combo.

The left's got nothing but bad choices and an endless uphill struggle ahead of it.

And behind it.

Labour, however, is not a left-wing organization it's a broad tent full of rot and mold.

Got to organize outside and independent of it.

Sorry I thought you were a landlord when I gave you your old avatar!
p397 of that report:

quote:

On 21 February 2018, Jeremy Corbyn sent Iain McNicol a letter regarding disciplinary procedures and the implementation of the Chakrabarti Report.938
Corbyn wrote that:

As a result of a series of leaks from the NEC Disputes Panel of 16 January, I have been approached by a number of MPs, Party members and members of the public expressing concerns regarding the Party’s processes for dealing with complaints of antisemitism.

I have met with Luciana Berger MP, received letters from Wes Streeting MP, Anna Turley MP and John Mann MP, as well as being approached directly whilst out at events. In addition, my office has received complaints from a range of stakeholders, including the Jewish Labour Movement and other groups representing the Jewish community.

The key concern which has been consistently raised by every one of these individuals and groups is the fact that the Chakrabarti Report has still not been fully implemented.

Corbyn noted that “more than eighteen months on from the NEC agreeing to adopt the full recommendations of the Report… thirteen recommendations, which related to compliance and complaints procedures, remain un-actioned.” For example: “it is clear that the current processes are far too slow to meet the volume of disciplinary cases the party has to deal with”, but “No procedural changes to the Party’s disciplinary processes have been brought forward by Party staff for consideration by the NEC”. Similarly, there had been “no progress on the hiring of a General Counsel or staff lawyer to the Party, or the appointment of a legal panel of volunteer lawyers”, although it was “of particular importance that we urgently appoint these legal professionals, to advise the Party, the NEC Disputes Panel and the NCC on disciplinary matters.”

Corbyn finished by saying:

I firmly believe that the full implementation of the Chakrabarti Report will lead to a quicker, more consistent, efficient and legally coherent approach to disciplinary cases.
It is a cause for real concern that Jewish voices from across the political spectrum of the Labour Party still feel that we do not take antisemitism seriously enough.

(Reference 928 is to an email).

So what here makes Corbyn look like a bad guy (as per idiots on Twitter?) (rhetorical question btw)

(NB this isn't a response to Communist Thought's comment about not exactly making Corbyn look like a good guy which I didn't see til after I posted this).

Why do people on twitter bother to say 'blocked' when they've blocked someone?
The blocker can't see it and noone else cares do they?
I'm blocked by Luke Akehurts* (I've never had any interactions with him or commented on any post of his so I guess it's one of those 'you're following someone I don't like' blocks.)
And in any case if someone does block you, just sign in with a different twitter name to view their tweets.
