So I read the story of Titus o Neil getting suspended for touching Vince’s arm and I got to thinking about who got pushed and how kofi was treated - is there enough evidence out there to say that Vince is a closeted racist?

He was astonished to find out that some people find Asian women attractive, JR had to tell him about the popularity of Asian porn before he believed him

This is not me loving with you. This actually got reported in the context of discussing Gail Kim in WWE.

Vince once joked on an AOL chat (which dates the quote, really) that to ramp up the LHW division bhe should bring in some Ethiopian talent. Hàaaaaaaaaa isn't it hilarskis that an entire country can't find a way out of extreme poverty so they can eat?

Vince is one of those people where if all his peccadilloes, flaws, and foibles were made public, mocking him by assigning him weird qualities wouldn't work as a joke since it might be too accurate to be funny. Kinda like how some people gave up mocking Trump because nothing they could invent is more absurd than the dumb poo poo coming out of his mouth.

WWF was barely using him toward the end. Sure, in WCW he'd never go over Hogan cleanly, but he was still a main-eventer and making the :10bux: instead of being a commentator who occasionally got to wrestle Doink. He was a 4-time WCW champ, so it's not like he was buried there.

Vince thought he was too old to wrestle anymore and tried to push him to commentary, which he hated. Can’t blame him for jumping ship there.

I’m not sure how true it is, but there was word at one point that Savage wanted to do a long term feud with Shawn Michaels that would have put Michaels over in the end and man. That could have been amazing to see, so of course Vince shot it down.

I thought that was Razor Ramon.

And forgive my ignorance, but I never thought Carlito was that racist. He was just a Hawaiian shirt wearing, apple eating/spitting afro haired guy who disliked uncool people. I liked him. Both on screen, because he could have awesome matches when he tried to, and I loved his lazy, laid back attitude backstage, just taking the cash and relaxing with his friends.

That really doesn't have anything to do with the story of Vince wanting Carlito to be a racist caricature and using a racial slur on a Puerto Rican man to describe what he wants beyond his failure to do so.

To be clear, this is a story that Jim Ross has told multiple times. And I *think* Gail may have said stuff about believing it to be true. J.R. started telling the story before he was even completely gone from WWE, to boot.

Kurt Angle being revealed as Jason Jordan's father
In case this one seems out of place to any of you, this is here because it was a longtime running joke behind the scenes that "Kurt Angle is into black chicks." Even long before he and Karen split up. There were plenty of people online who guessed that Angle's "secret" was going to be that he was jason Jordan's father literally for no reason other than that WWE being petty/weird enough to do that angle for that reason seemed obvious.

(The same "running joke" was why they booked the Sharmell angle. Where Angle—if this was scripted for him, I dunno—made comments about wanting to have "bestiality-like sex" with her.)

Apparently Vince is...I don't wanna say "genuine" in his MLK idolatry, but it's not something he's just throwing on TV to seem progressive. Which, realistically, means that he's most likely a weird old racist who has a very shallow "segregated lunch counter" understanding of what racism really is and thus thinks that he can't be a racist.

Physically present on the site, not able to do their jobs at a distance (for example, you could commentate at a distance but you couldn't referee or have live cameras at a distance). I don't have enough of a TV production background to know how remote editing and mixing could be.

It's a vague category, I'll admit, but I'm thinking multi camera setup (minimum of hard cam and one mobile cam), set / studio lighting, etc.

I'll also specify I'm not thinking this needs to be live, just generate content that can be edited into a show later.

Racists loving MLK is like a huge thing way beyond Vince. Its like the "I voted for Obama, racism is over" stuff. Every old white conservative somehow retroactively loved MLK and thinks he cured racism so now you should never complain about it again and also know that MLK wouldn't like you wanting further social change. Even the old white conservatives who were public enough figures that there's record of them hating MLK and speaking out against him retroactively love him. Because he's long dead and he can't take offense to them using his memory as a bludgeon for their causes and defenses.

I think even if you're running with a skeleton crew of staff you probably need a couple of dozen people to handle a production and deal with any issues. But that also doesn't include all the people involved before and after the broadcast like makeup and ring crew and locker room attendees and catering and whoever is supposedly testing the wrestlers etc. Even if you're doing writing and creative meetings and editing remotely or trying to keep people distanced by doing things in shifts there's still a lot of stuff that demand interaction which in turn undermines keeping those shifts separate.

I came here to chew bubblegum and quote 'They Live', and I'm... at an impasse.
If you go to the credits of a typical life production, here’s the only people I imagine you could have remote:
-put the camera truck outside, but you still need the director who’s looking at the cameras. (In a very small production you can have the same person switch but it’s hard to switch and look at all the cameras simultaneously.)

You can have the lighting and gaffing and set dressing people come in separately, but they’re going to be touching the same things. Same thing if you have a prop person responsible for tables and chairs, and someone to make the signs. Maybe Sammy and Darby can do it.

You’ll probably need some PAs just to move things back and forth, do lock up, cue talent.

Segment producers and interviewers to do the interview packages. If you have every person interviewed sequentially in a different area, you’ll be spending hours to put together a package compared to multiple people shooting at the same general script.

You could do a remote editor but it’s going to take time moving files back-and-forth, easier if you’re using actual hard drives.

So there’s not a tremendous amount to cut.

Given the number of cameras they have available I'd say it would basically be impossible for a director to both direct AND switch, especially if you drop out a Director's Assistant to keep the numbers down. The solution there would probably be to use less cameras, but they sure do love their pointless camera cuts to near identical frames or cuts that jump the line so that might be beyond the pale for them.
